Location: Alunite Townsite
Minerals:

Land Status: Private land.
Directions: Beginning at the south city limits of Marysvale, drive south about 3 miles to milepost 116 and continue past it for 0.5 mile to a dirt road going west. Turn west and continue on this road for 1.1 miles to the old townsite of Alunite.

Location: Blackbird Mine

Land Status: National Forest and mining claims.
Directions: Follow the directions to Elbow Ranch above. At Elbow Ranch, either of the two roads that lead north(left) from the main gravel road can be followed up the creek beds of the foothills to the Blackbird Mine which is located just below the steep front of the Sevire Plateau, about 3.5 miles from Elbow Ranch.

Location: Deer Trail Mine

sphalerite, fluorite

Land Status: Private land. stay off posted property.
Directions: The dirt road that leads to the mine is located almost exactly 2 miles south of Marysvale sout city limit, about 3.5 miles south of the center of town. The mine is on the lower slopes of the mountain and is clearly visible from the highway.

Location: Durkee Creek Area
Minerals:

chabazite, stilbite, heulandite, mordenite, scolecite, calcite, quartz

Land Status: BLM.
Directions: Take the street east in downtown Marysvale and cross the Sevier River. This road then turns north paralleling the river. Stay to the right as the road rounds the north end of the mountain and heads southeast. At the road fork, just before the power line crosses the road, take the left fork curving east along the north side of Durkee Creek. Go about 1 mile and park and walk across the creek to the small hill on the other side. A second area is across the valley and about midway up the slopes of the wash visible about 0.5 mile southeast of the first location.

Location: Elbow Ranch Area

Land Status: BLM and mining claims.
Directions: From Marysvale drive south 2 miles from the city limit (about 3.5 miles from the center of town) and turn left on a paved road paralleling the highway. After 0.25 mile turn left on a dirt road and follow this across the Sevier River, and across the ridge on the other side. Continue to the abandoned Elbow Ranch. Continue on the main dirt road south from Elbow Ranch. The location is the first canyon north of Dry Canyon, where the road enters the mountains.

Location: Marysvale Area
Minerals:

amethystine quartz, bixbyite, rutile

Land Status: BLM.
Directions: Turn west on a dirt road approxomately 2.8 miles north of Center Street in Marysvale. Continue about 300 yards and park. Boulders of light colored rhyolote are scattered about. Examine cavaties in the rhyolite.

Location: Pine Creek Area
Minerals:

corundum, spinel, nepheline

Land Status: National Forest and mining claims.
Directions: Since the deposits occur as float, there is not specific location and no road leads directly into the area. There is a road that goes part way up Pine Creek Canyon. The general location is Sec. 22, T28S, R2W.
