Land Status: Highway right-of-way
Directions: Road cuts along U.S. 89 beginning at the railroad overpass 6.2 miles north of Fairview and extending for the next 1.5 miles northward can be searched for these fossils.

Location: Mellor Canyon
Minerals:

quartz

Land Status: BLM.
Directions: The road up Mellor Canyon begins about 1.5 miles north of Fayette. The Flagstaff Formation containing the quartz is near the head of Mellor Canyon.

Location: Six Mile Canyon
Minerals:

magnesite

Land Status: National Forest and mining claims.
Directions: Take the road east out of Sterling past Palisade Lake state park and on into Six Mile Canyon.

Location: Sterling Area
Minerals:

aragonite

Land Status: BLM and private lands.
Directions: A jeep trail leads to this area from Utah highway 137 about 0.2 milel south of its junction with U.S. 89. aragonite occurs in a propect pit in the area.
