From the Author: This is, in fact, the first fan fiction I've written in about 20 years. I enjoyed writing this since I haven't had the motivation to write anything since I kept making excuses about the time or nothing to create. Enjoy.
_______________
It's been a long time. He's come back to take care of Earth again like he used to in his younger days. All his friends, the ones he helped breakout, are off doing their responsibilities within the Galactic Trig. He stayed on Earth for a little while until one time he was going to check out one incident. He came across some kids with special powers similar to his, but very different. He couldn't communicate with them telepathically no matter how hard he tried. He witnessed them jaunting away without any sort of extra boost from a belt or even a wrist band.
It seemed that these "new" Tomorrow People appeared to have a handle on protecting the Earth. Timus offered John to come and help them on the Galactic Trig, but before he went he enlisted the help of his Sap friends to let him know if things didn't go well on Earth. After a while, he honed on his powers and constantly trained himself to be even better than he was when he was on Earth. All of a sudden the new Tomorrow People disappeared without a trace. No one knew if they just gave up saving the earth or if something had happened to them that no one could explain.
When he got a message from Colonel Masters, the Galactic Trig sent him back to Earth in hopes that he would either find those Tomorrow People or some new ones that broke out. Now he's back on Earth in the familiar lab and remembers that with all the changes they made so long ago he wanted the lab back to the way it was. It's going to take some time to get this back to the original lab, but with the central computer's help it shouldn't be too difficult.
Currently the central computer's (TIM's) power levels were at a bare minimum. It was enough to monitor the goings on all over the planet Earth, but not to coordinate with anyone around. He turns the power back on to the lab and waits for TIM to boot up. He wanders through the lab and reminisces all that he's experienced from when he became a Tomorrow Person as well as the many others that came along after that.
He'll always think fondly of all his friends that worked with him in all their battles with alien races and malevolent people. He knows there are some that he haven't spoken to in a long time, but it's been so busy at times that he hasn't had a moment to settle down or even carry on a simple conversation. He's hoping that will change since the world is much different than it used to be.
Suddenly, full power is restored so he walks back to TIM and thinks to himself that he's got to do something about him being mobile. Perhaps he should change things in the lab back to what they were since he now realizes that it's just too colorful in this room. Apparently TIM picked up his telepathic thoughts and agreed that changing things back to what they were was much better.
"Hello Tim," he said. "It's been a long time."
"Indeed John," agreed TIM, "but now you are back and it's about time. The planet could be in potential danger at some point in time, but for now I've got a lock on someone breaking out."
"Have you got a lock on this person?"
"I have, and she's very frightened. She seems to have developed her powers on her own, but she's still not able to fully accept her full potential."
"You think she can communicate telepathically with us?"
"Possibly John, but it is too difficult to tell."
"Could she have been with those other Tomorrow People?"
"It does appear that way, but it seems that her development seems to be amalgamating with both variations of Tomorrow People." TIM paused briefly. "She's probably the stepping stone to the next evolution of Homo Superior. We should take it easy with her until she's able to express her full potential."
John nodded, "Agreed. Let me see if I can talk to her." He grabs on to one of TIM's 'bulbs' and concentrates. [Hello. Can you hear me?] He got no response, but he did know that she heard him. [I know you can hear me. I can tell.]
[W-w-who are you?]
[My name is John. What's yours?]
[I-I-I'm frightened. I don't know what's happening to me!]
[Don't be. It's quite all right. You aren't in any danger.]
[What's going on?]
[You are a very unique and special person unlike any other person in the world.]
[Are you going to help me and explain what's happening to me?]
[Yes, I am. I am here to help you. I am going to meet you there, and I'll explain everything.]
[Okay. I won't move from my spot, but do you know where I am?]
[Yes, I do. I'll be there in a moment.]
"TIM do we have any spare arm bands?" asked John inquisitively
"No John. All I have are the old belts."
"Hmmm, these old belts should do the trick," muttered John to himself knowing TIM can hear him. "You know I missed these thingsā¦" John trailed off as if he was lost in thought.
[Are you on your way?] the girl asked telepathically. [Won't you be riding the train?]
John snapped his mind back concentrating on the young woman.
[
[I guess I will see you shortly, right?]
[Yes, I won't be long. If you don't mind my asking again, but I
didn't get your name.]
[Oh I'm sorry. It's Elena.]
**********************
Not too far away from Elena's position, a lone figure observed John
appearing not far from Elena who seemed rather surprised at his
appearance. He chuckled silently to himself as if he was amused by
the young lady's first contact with the Tomorrow Person. He checked
his watch and noticed that he was late for an appointment, but before
he went he looked back up at the two of them. They appeared to have
broken the ice and she disappeared with John to who knows where.
"I'm hoping that you'll help find those kids that you left this planet
in their capable hands. Perhaps one day, we'll cross paths and solve
the mystery of what happened to my friends. You will always have a
friend here, John, for I am the last of my Tomorrow People."
He started to turn away and said, "When the time is right, I will ask
your help. For now, get your team gathered together and be strong for
we will need it!"
He walks away as mysteriously as he appeared, but accidentally leaves
something behind. It's a business card. A business card with a
company named "Megabyte Technologies."
