Ending #1:B If the PC's survive, and alert Star Law to the Agency's doings, Star Law decides to keep it quiet from the media in exchange for Truane's Star government giving the UPF and CDC rights to the planet. This way, a major political embarrassment to the Truane government is avoided, along with the possible social upheaval once the citizens of Pale and New Pale discover what their government has done. The CDCS Discovery is returned to CDC, with Truane's apologies for the "rough treatment that the customs officials put them through". CDC privately but vigorously protests to Star Law, but is warned not to rock the boat or Star Law and the UPF would "make business very difficult for the CDC". The Agency continues to operate. The UPF begins to plan a secret attack on the Sathar at Xagyg X1. If the PC's try to tell their stories to anyone, only conspiracy enthusiasts, Free Frontiersmen, anti-UPF anarchists, and New Pale rebel sympathizers will believe them. CDC offers the PC's 10,000 Cr each as compensation for their ordeal, asd offers them permanent positions as explorers.
Ending #2: If the PC's survive, and alert Star Law to the Agency's doings, Star Law immediately brings it to the attention of the Council of Worlds. After enormous public outcry, the Truane's Star legislature holds hearings to determine exactly what happened. Several Agency personnel are offered up as sacrificial scapegoats in very public criminal prosecutions on Pale. Twelve people are sentenced to life in prison for corruption and murder, and nineteen others sentenced to lesser punishments. The CDC Discovery is returned to CDC, repaired by the Truane government. The PC's are offered 50,000 Cr each compensation for false imprisonment by the Truane government. The Agency continues to operate. The UPF begins to plan an attack on the Sathar at Xagyg X1. The PC's are respected as explorers and righteous whistle-blowers. CDC offers them permanent positions as explorers.
