these would help form some plan for the difficult assignment ahead.  The small
screen on his desk comes to life, displaying a soft blue script:

CENTURY Station:  
     CENTURY Station is one of 3 UPF fortresses located in this sector on the
edge Rim space in the Federation.  It is a standard DEFENDER II class fortress
with a hull size of 4.  The crew consists solely of military personnel and is
considered a high risk duty station.  CENTURY Station is heavily armed with
the following statistics:

      ICM x     20   DC:       1           Ass Scout:  2 Seeker x 5    RS/SS     

   The fortress is in an orbital pattern in Outland - Sector 2.  Five large
minefields and a seeker line are also deployed and under the control of the
fortresse's commander.  It is a free space station, meaning it orbits the star
and no other planetary body.  The UPF Spacefleet ships alone have the
coordinates and route to this station.  The route is obviously a classified
military route.

DESCRIPTION:  
    Measuring 828 meters in diameter, the station has a segmented control
cylinder with twin booms extending to two large semi-circular torus shaped
ring segments.  These rotate at a speed consistant to produce .8 G in the
partial rings.  The central cylinder does not rotate.  It has several weapons
blisters, the majority being laser batteries, located both here and on the
habitats.  Each is coordinated into an active defense grid.  The disruptor
cannon is the center piece of the defense grid and is located on the bottom of
the central cylinder.  
     Four agridomes are located on the inside of the spinning habitats.  They
help to provide subsistance to the crew over the months stationed there.
Additionally, there is a limited repair and refit ability within the central
cylinder for the military patrol ships. 

     CENTURY Station has the best long range scanning and detection equipment
available on the frontier.

Mission:  Identify threats and potential threats to UPF space through all
active and passive methodology available.  Provide early warning of hostile
activities on the border of UPF space.  Act as a patrol rest and refit point
for fleet vessels.  Monitor the Typheria Gas Nebula in Outland Sector 2 for
possible alien movements.

History:  CENTURY Station has never seen combat in its five years of active
duty.

    A fairly old star, pulling in spirals of the gas nebula, it is a beautiful
region of the Outland.  There are no planets or asteroidal debris other than
the gas in system.
