From: Albin Johnson (Syzygy)
Syzygy pauses at his work on the computer terminal long enough to regard
the group's brainstorming. At the suggestion from T'Klkk that the group
vote he clears his throat loud enough to be heard but not be obnoxious.

"It seems we're voting on the particulars of a plan we haven't even agreed
upon. Splitting up the team is fine - but let's determine the agenda. I,
for one, do not agree that the stationary team should be using heavy labor
robots to seal an air leak. That's a big project, it'll generate too much
noise and take too long for us to conduct our affairs without the
inviso-goons investigating. Next, there's no point in making a frontal
assault on the living quarters where Zane and the refugees are - we need
some leverage first."

"Let's review our situation: we got eight goons as far as we could count.
The halls are flooded with water, cutting OUR mobility, but maybe not
their's. Also, one of them seemed to take a liking to us and promised me
we'd leave this place alive if we were truly friends. We're seven people,
including spider-boy over there", he offers, waving a hand at 'Spider',
"meaning we're also outnumbered. So far there's no computer network to
hijack, no central command post we know of yet, and no visible leader."

"Given the dire situation, we need something that can work quickly or at
least quietly until we own an advantage."

Syzygy's eyes skim over the terminal map of Lost Point.

"Three life support stations - too many to take out or capture by
ourselves, and too spread out. Food center, maybe. I'd love to see what's
in that lab, if possible. The factories or processors have no tactical
value. And every corridor in here is a dead end."

A single digit walks up the screen to a bright yellow icon.

"The power plant. Yes - a singularly important location. Cut their power
and they're at our mercy. We can even rig it to look like it was a natural
failure, in case you don't want to look like the bad guys, which we already
do to those poor souls."

Syzygy produces an emergency bag of pistachios from a zippered pouch in his
pressure suit. He ponders lifting his helmet to partake of the snack, then
thinks better of it and replaces the bag with a frown.

"My best idea is a long-shot, but here goes. Assuming the north door is
unlocked and unguarded we enter the life support area. Tork and I can rig
some charges on the west door and blow them, opening the room to the
surface. This will bring in the bad boys to investigate - maybe they'll
think we hot-footed it over the rocky terrain back to Metrosphere. Once
inside, however, we bring their attention to another set of charges we rig
up over the east door, to be detonated on our command. We can fake them or
use the real thing - the point is that we force them to give up or else we
open their corridors to the cold of space. Maybe that'll buy us a suit, or
at least reduce their numbers if we elect to let them go on a wild goose
chase outside."

"Another aggressive option is to break out of the east door and make for
the southerly parts. Hopefully this will attract the attention of the
goons and make them follow us. Along the way we rig charges for a
kill-zone - wait until they get near it and 'BAM!' take 'em out. Another
team could be exiting the north door and making for the power plant. If we
can secure that as a playing card they may be more willing to listen."

Syzygy sighs heavily, knowing the plans are mere ideas and that they raise
the stakes considerably. "Those are just some ideas. I don't want this to
escalate any more than you guys do, but we need to get some control here.
Our only other option is to collect more data so we can learn of a
bargaining option, a weakness to exploit. I just don't know if we have the
time for that."

Syzygy will leave this all for discussion. He is not dead-set on these
plans, but wants to hear counter-ideas. In the meantime, he will try to
unlock the east and north doors (Tech skill) and will try to probe the
computer for more information. He will load his tangler pistol with the
barium rounds and rig every one of his satchel charges for remote
detonation via his palm-triggers. (Layne, if you don't like those then
he'll rig them with radio-detonators rigged to the robot communicators).
Syzygy will also be on the lookout for ANY signs of computer terminals of
any kind wherever he goes - he is sure there must be some kind of
computerized network running things like power, lights, temperature.

From: John Groszkiewicz (Tork) >From the end of the May story line: >T'Klkk hesitates. The real reason she hadn't suggested Syzygy for the >team was that she considered him too erratic to be depended upon. But >given the male Vrusk's volatile state, she chose not to voice that >reasoning. > >"Well," says T'Klkk, "perhaps we should put it to a vote." [IC:] Tork quickly speaks up, "EXCUSE ME, but can I make a suggestion?" Once he has everyone's attention he continues in a slightly hushed voice. "Well actually two things. First", as Tork points towards the chronocoms, "can we set up some kind of feedback on those things by having one transmit to the others?" [OOC:] Tork is trying to duplicate the feedback you get when a microphone gets too close to the speakers. I hope this will thwart any attempts to listen in on us. ] [IC:] "Also, before we participate in the ‘democratic process', I suggest we move this conversation." Tork continues as he points towards the North door. [OCC:] If Tork is asked why North he will offer these reasons: (1) I would rather not be in this room when our captor's return. (2) One of the life support generators is in the north section. The air should be better there and we may find some more useful equipment. (3) If I read the map correctly, north will bring us closer to team-mate Zane. More to come....... TTFN John johngroz@velocity.net ---------- "Can't say. Saying would be knowing. Don't know. From: Andy Campbell (Urugg) Or maybe "Run away! Run away!" would be more apropos... Having read through everything and digested it a bit, some comments and observations: (these can be considered both in and out of character) ---At this point, we have two main objectives (besides survival, of course): one, take out Dakka / Streel and contact the authorities; and two, save the Lost Pointers from their current miserable situation. ---Our enemies include: Dakka / Streel, his henchmen (if any), and any unwitting saps (both setients and bots) that serve him; and the inviso-goons (some of them seem sympathetic, but the hard-liners like Kyran call the shots it would seem). ---Repairing some of the LS seals is a good idea, but we don't have the time or proper equipment to make it worthwhile. Every moment we spend in Lost Point, Dakka / Streel is using to make sure we wind up dead. ---We must still try to get the Lost Pointers on our side. Besides the immediate problem of escaping this rat trap, we can only help the colonists if we can get their keepers to agree. Also, when we return to First Landing, I am convinced that will be hunted down on trumped up charges (see next point) and we will need every friendly blade we can get on our side. Though the Lost Pointers are little more than a bunch of over-armored goons, their suits would make them valuable allies when we sneak back into First Landing. ---Speaking of extra hands, if we have time, it might be worthwhile for one or more of the techs (Syzygy, Taanik or Kare) to write some new programs for our now-functional workbots. If we can load them up with Self-Defense or Attack/Defense programs, we'll have an ace in the hole if the shit hits the fan while we have them with us. Also, how big are these bots and what are they equipped with. Do they have hoppers for building materials in which we can hide ourselves or equipment? Any other gear like arc welders, laser welders, large gripping pincers that they could use as primitive weapons? Also, how do they move (legs / treads / jets) and whats their apparent carrying capacity? ---As far as the immediate plan goes, Syzygy's sounds the most practical and likely to succeed. Our last, best hope may lie in neutralizing the Lost Point hard-liners (at least one, that being Kyran, plus another 3 or 4 at least I'm guessing) by ambushing them guerrilla-style. Syzygy's suggestion fo luring the goons into booby-trapped kill-zones is a sound one and should be tried. Urugg will volunteer himself as bait if we try it. Once the hard-liners are out of action, we ry to negotiate with the remaining goons; once they realize the colonists are slowly dying despite (because of?) the goons and the Lord of Shadows' efforts, they hopefully will come around. Once we've gotten that far, we can get the colonists started repairing their facility (we can loan them the workbots to help if need be). That done, we can plan some sort of mission into First Landing to bring Dakka / Streel to justice. ---Has anyone wondered why Dakka / Streel woud up here anyway? That still bugs me. There's nothing we know of in First Landing that he couldn't get elsewhere (as far as money, secure hiding place); besides the out of the way location, First Landing doen't have many other attractions if you're a super- criminal setting up shop. The one thing that *does* bother me on the Lost Point map is the Laboratory. Given that Lost Point was built by a bunch of mutineers using smuggled and stolen goods, why would they set up a lab as opposed to something more practical like a food processor or machine shops? Just what the hell is *in* that lab? Maybe Dakka / Streel made contact with the inviso-boys hoping they could find something he knew was there but didn't know the exact location of? Some more fuel for the fire... ---Evil Thought Of The Day: This one's a long shot, but all aloing we've assumed that Dakka / Streel was unaware of Spider / Streel's presence on the moon. However, it looks more and more like Dakka hired us and brought here for ulterior motives from the start. It's possible that he suspected Spider / Streel's hand in the unrest and this whole thing was a setup to flush out Spider / Strel (as opposed to a fringe benefit of our investigation). If this is true, Dakka / Streel (perhaps using workbots he hacked the network to access) may have opened up those accessway passages himself knowing Spider / Streel would be tempted out of hiding and get caught. We should press Spider on just how exactly he knew of those tunnels and who opened them up during the demonstration. Urugg's ears will suddenly perk inside his helmet as he starts out of deep thought. "You know, working on the life support proble here I've been thinking about those access tunnels back in the First Landing Life Support Center that lead to Streel's office. All this time we've been convinced that Star's Arms and / or Spider set those up, but we've never confirmed that fact. What if Streel himself opened them up using robots to flush Spider here out of hiding? Just how did you learn of those tunnels, Spider, and who exactly set them up that you could access Streel's office?" : As the flat speech of the android in Ap-Harrow's office echoes through cavernous storage pod, Urugg's face goes pake inside his helm. With a dazed look on his face, he stumbles backward against the wall, sliding slowly downward into a crumpled heap. "By the clan Elders..." he moans, his head clutched between his gloved hands. A few moments pass as he mutters ancient Yazirian curses. Shaking his furred head as if clearing away cobwebs, he turns to the team with a dismayed look. "Things are obviously worse than we thought, my friends. It looks like Dakka's pulled out all the stops. He must have monitored my transmission to Ap-Harrow while we we pursuing Spider - I called her briefly to tell her that Syte was in the colony and we were on his tail. If something's happened to her, her blood is on my hands." "Not only that, if Dakka has had her removed he has no plans for leaving us alive. There is every possibility that he may do to us what he did to Spider - assuming Spider's been telling us the truth. When we return to First Landing, we may very well find that our documents and identities have been altered as well. Given that Spider presently matches Dakka Sytes records, we may have new identities ourselves - as Syte's henchmen, Ixiol smugglers, or criminals hired to assassinate "Selson Streel". If Dakka / Streel has the time (and he's already done it once, so he's had practice), changing our identities would be insurance to make sure we can't act against him even if we get off this lifeless moon; even if we escaped, Star Law would hound us across the sector until we wound up on a prison asteroid. If we're going to come out of this alive, we've got to act fast!" So, that's my take on things folks. I vote that we break up into 2 guerrilla teams, neutralize the hard-line inviso-goons, then negotiate with the rest. My suggestion is one team be responsible for setting up the ambush site(s), while the other team locate the goons and draw them in once the ambush(es) is / are ready. The robots may be useful for preparing the ambush sites and should be taken along by the booby-trap team. Good sites for ambushes would be areas the goons would expect us to hit - the reactor and / or life support facilities. I also suggest checking out the laboratory before we split Lost Point; besides the fact it may have useful gear (and is the most likely spot besides the Government Pod for some sort of computer network), it may hold some clue as to why Dakka / Streel was interested in a bunch of desperate refugee types in the first place (I don't he's catered to them out of charity). Thoughts anyone? ---
From: John Groszkiewicz (Tork) [OOC] If this conversation is taking place in our ‘cell' Tork will do his best to move the group north to the Life Support area (H8). If he can't get the group to move Tork will have his rifle in hand and stand so that he is facing the eastern door. If we want to be destructive it would be easier to blast a couple of these support beams and cave the roof in. OR we could even save the explosives by having a workbot remove the beams. If we want to try and make friendly with the inviso-thugs then I suggest we make our presence known by doing an orderly shut down of the life support unit. We could rig charges and blast it if things go bad but if they become our allies we could undo our deed much easier." > "Another aggressive option is to break out of the east door and make for... << SNIP >> [OOC] Tork would not mind exploring Syzygy's other plans as back up or if the team decides to war against the inviso-thugs. If we want to try and get these guys as allies he prefers a less deadly plan. TTFN John johngroz@velocity.net
From: John Whitfield (T'Klkk) As Syzygy lays his suggestions before the group (q.v. the post from my pal Al), T'Klkk looks him squarely in the face as her antennae flick forward to rub across her compound eyes in the Vrusk equivalent of a blink. She is totally perplexed by Syzygy's contradictory nature: one moment he is totally erratic and impulsive, and the next minute he demonstrates the aptitude for planning and analysis that is the trademark of her race. She waits until he has finished before speaking. "Teammate-Syzygy, Self-T'Klkk is in agreement that efforts to do heavy duty repair work is not a good strategy. Even with the help of these two construction bots, " she nods in the direction of them, "it would take hours to make significant progress and would undoubtedly alert our captors to our activity. It is very unlikely that our actions would be interpretted as a friendly gesture, anyway, since this team is already seen as a threat and is slated for termination. "Like Teammate-Syzygy and Teammate-Urugg, Self-T'Klkk is curious about the lab which seems so out of place in a refugee camp such as this one. It does not make sense." She angles her antennae in such a way that other Vrusk would recognize it as an unconscious expression of confusion. She shakes her head and continues, "Self-T'Klkk is in agreement that it is necessary for this team to assert itself and gain control of a strategic point, and the two most logical ones are the Power Plant and and Life Support Generator. If all systems are dependent on the Power Plant, that should be our objective. However, we do not know if the Life Support Generators were constructed with an independent emergency power supply, so this is something which needs to be considered. Self-T'Klkk concurs with Teammate-Tork that an orderly shut down is preferrable over out and out destruction." She turns to Syzygy for emphasis, "No explosives unless absolutely necessary." She steps toward the computer screen with the display of the Lost Point map, and as she talks she points to the corresponding location, "We are here. The refugees and Teammate-Zane are here. Power Plant. Life Support Generators. Lab. As Self-T'Klkk sees it, because of its location the Power Plant is a fairly defensible location and is key, provided there are no redundant power supplies in the Life Support Generators. Splitting into 2 teams gives us better odds of at least one group achieving our goal. Self-T'Klkk suggests that a smaller scouting team consisting of Self-T'Klkk, Teammate-Syzygy, and Teammate-Urugg investigate the lab before proceeding toward the Power Plant. The rest should investigate the Life Support Generator just beyond the north door to determine if it has its own power supply, keeping in contact via the radios constructed by Teammate-Kare. If we determine that all systems are fed solely by the Power Plant, proceed there with the intent of rendez-vousing and capturing it." She turns to Taanik, "If possible it would be nice to have the construction bots move outside Lost Point and have them make their way to the Power Plant in case we need them. If not, we should attempt to disguise the fact that they are now operational, just in case they can be of use to us in the future." She scans the group, "If at any point one team encounters trouble, the other team should be notified immediately. Teammate-Kare, please make it your priority to keep an eye on 'Spider' along the way; when you are investigating the Power Plant, Teammate-Tork will cover him." She scans the group again, "Any questions, comments, or suggestion?" T'Klkk quickly checks her weapons, putting a fresh clip in her pistol and changing the setting on her rifle to burst. She also secures a bandolier so that her grenades are easily accessible. "If you are attacked by one of the refugees in a power suit, use full force since it may mean the difference between life and death of a member of this team. If there is no discussion or resistance from others, T'Klkk will urge them to proceed immediately with the plan as outlined. -JWW

Just one comment, "Perhaps it would be better to have one or both droids move down the hall ahead of you. From: Andy Campbell (Urugg) Urugg pauses a moment, his eyes blinking in the low light of the storage pod. A half hour of weapons exercises with his sword had left a thin film of fog on the faceplate of his spacesuit; in the thin air of the dilapidated colony he'd dared not leave it open while he practiced the lunges and cuts he'd learned while training in Metrosphere's rec zones. The exercise felt good, clearing his mind of the dark thoughts that choked it like jungle lianas in the wake of Spider's devastating news. Whether they'd been set up by their employer or not, the prospects of getting off this miserable, airless rock didn't look good. Escape from Lost Point would be difficult but not impossible, but the disappearance of Metrosphere's police captain was a sure sign that the road through Metrosphere was closed unless the team could infiltrate the sprawling complex of colony domes. Closing his eyes, Urugg conjured up an image of his blade against the throat of Selson Streel. Whatever past crimes the human had committed mattered little, but for his manipulation of this team and his callous sacrifice of the Lost Point colonists, the skinling* must pay. The Yazirian's thin lips twitched involuntarily into a feral grin at the thought. With luck, the image would one day become reality. *skinling = yazirian slang for humans, ie. "one without fur" ------- Alright folks, my official move: Urugg agrees with the plan Syzygy and T'Klkk have laid out. He will volunteer for the scout team as T'Klkk described in the last email. In the (looks pretty likely) event we get into combat, Urugg has prepared himself as follows: carried in hands - sword in right, left empty holstered - needler pistol on right hip (loaded with barbed rounds); stunstick (set for damage) in left thigh holster (strapped to outside of spacesuit). bandoliers - 2 across chest, one with: 1 clip each of rifle and pistol (barbed and sleep) for 4 clips total; one with 1 each frag and tangler grenades, 1 doze grenade, and the red smoke grenade (4 total grenades). clipped to belt (if possible) - 2 holoflares worn - bladed gloves (were modified to fit spacesuit earlier); flashlight (attached to helmet previously) carried - needler rifle (loaded with barbed clip) slung over across back over the bandoliers, kit bag (carried over left shoulder) *note that Urugg carris his knife in his boot under the suit as a holdout weapon In combat, Urugg will atempt to snipe and evade if possible; if not, in close combat he will toss a grenade if there's time and then enter the fray with sword howling the ancestral slogans of the Innesti clan. If we secure our initial objectives, Urugg will definitely try to get a look at the lab (even if this requires a solo mission). There is something there, he's convinced of it. If possible, he will try to take along one of the team's computer specs (Syzygy comes to mind) in case there's intact systems there. Short and sweet this time folks. Let's see where the chips fall...
From: Clark Valentine (Taanik) Taanik immediately agrees to move the group to H8. [OOC: Layne, what movement type do these work bots have? Treads, wheels, walkers? How big are they? Could multiple characters hop a ride on one?] "I think we ought to shut down the life support then send one of the bots overland across the moon's surface toward First Landing. Hopefully the goons will think we shut them down and are trying to make a quick getaway, luring them away from Lost Point. Whaddya think, guys?" Taanik would very much like to check out the Laboratory, if possible; maybe we could find one of those holoscreens or whatever the goons are using. Taanik sets ids blaster to 5 and makes sure ids barium grenades are within easy reach. How quiet are the bots? Would they be too noisy and give us away if they travel along with us in the passageways? If not, Taanik likes Tork's idea of one of the bots escorting us (or one of the teams). If it would be too loud, Taanik will send it on a slow mission to the power plant, or wherever else T'Klkk says to send them. Any thoughts? Taanik's bad joke for May: David received a parrot for his birthday. The parrot was fully grown with a bad attitude and worse vocabulary. Every other word was an expletive. Those that weren't expletives, were to say the least, rude. David tried hard to change the bird's attitude and was constantly saying polite words, playing soft music, anything he could think of to try and set a good example... Nothing worked. He yelled at the bird and the bird yelled back. He shook the bird and the bird just got more angry and more rude. Finally, in a moment of desperation, David put the parrot in the freezer. For a few moments he heard the bird squawk and kick and scream - then suddenly, there was quiet. David was frightened that he might have hurt the bird and quickly opened the freezer door. The parrot calmly stepped out onto David's extended arm and said, "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I will endeavor at once to correct my behavior. I really am truly sorry and beg your forgiveness." David was astonished at the bird's change in attitude and was about to ask what had made such a dramatic change when the parrot continued, "May I ask what the chicken did?
From: Clark Valentine (Taanik) Hey! Taanik just came up with a good idea. Some of us have fake ID's that Syzygy made for us - would those help us sneak back into First Landing undetected? Also, could we enlist the aid of Star's Arm to help us?
From: Ken Morefield (Zane) Zane will heed the message on his chronocom. If he can(with not being detected), he will turn on the audio-out(sending) part of the chronocom, so that his companions can hear his conversations with his guard and the civilians. He will nonchalantly state that he doesn't feel that it was necessary to leave A guard here. His only goal is to help these sick people. Where did the others go anyway? Etc. Maybe it will give his team-mates some needed info and something. to home in to, so they can locate him. He will occassionally glance down at his chronocom to check for incoming text. He will patiently continue to take care of the sick, until his supplies run too low(he will save just enough for an emergency), then he will put his last post's plan in action. If the team doesn't respond in too reasonable of a time then he will as do his previous plan. If he spots a team-mate approaching or knows that they are real close, Zane will start arguing with his guard again in order to distract him. He says a prayer(in his mind) wishing his team-mates luck. See Ya, Ken(Cylon97@aol.com) and once again Dralasite@aol.com
From: Ruben Rivera (Kare) Layne sorry its late, please post... Well Kare thinks we should make friends. I've said it in the last two post and for the record...I still think we should give a "good faith" effort to helping these people and earning their trust. FYI when I generally play SF, I play it in a early 1900's setting. Tech putting people out of work, strikes, unions, Union special ops teams, Corp special ops teams, etc. So kare is very...sensitive to other peoples hardships, especially when its (the suffering) is in the shadow of great wealth. So Kare may take the big picture view,...removing the imposter may not help these people, streel corp is a bunch of thieves away (in her view), so helping these (abandoned) people should come first. She will mention her ideas amoungest the team members, but will always defer to the democratic process (as long as the process is true). As a "leather head", she doesn't care which "bone head" Vrusk comes with her team, her reply will come with a "huff". If bugboy comes along fine, if not fine. She will suggest to bug boy (if he is left behind) to create a number of programs, virus to effect the First Landing Security system, a virus to create a "emergency" at first landing, causing everyone to evac to safety shelters (and locking them in), a virus to lock police units in the station, the possiblities are endless. (This is all Kare old operating percedure). Layne, Kare wants to know if she has seen any robots lately, in lost point halls, etc. She figures we could hollow out some old robots and use them as disguies. Later Ruben Sorry mistaek

Syzygy elects to >forget that perhaps it isn't superior logic that he's used to confuse her, >but that's besides the point. Watching a female get flustered is sexy in >any race. ;) ROTFLOL!!! Al, you are truly a scoundrel! :-) > >>She turns to Syzygy for >>emphasis, "No explosives unless absolutely necessary." > >Syzygy looks at the ceiling as if innocent of the remark's implications. >"Why, of course." T'Klkk will ignore this obvious attempt at feigned innocence and continue with her comments. She will, however, make a note to herself to explore the possibilities of learning demolition skills in the future. > >Syzygy speaks up: "Let us consider the exits from that point. Is it a dead >end? If so, we could be trapping ourselves. Are there airlocks opening >onto the surface for the construction robots to use to enter this area?" T'Klkk will nod her head in Syzygy's direction. "Your questions are accepted with five degrees of appreciation, Teammate-Syzygy. There is indeed only one entrance, which is a double-edged sword since it is both more easily defensible and potentially a dead-end if we find ourselves overpowered. However, if worse comes to worse and we find ourselves hopelessly cornered, we could use explosives to blast a hole through a wall and escape onto the surface. It would be necessary for us to find a pressure suit for Spider, or he would die from the decompression. But, before it came to that, we would certainly threaten to destroy the power plant, which would force the refugees to abandon Lost Point, something they have made clear they do not wish to do. Faced with such a reality, they may become more agreeable to negotiation." > >Syzygy becomes even more aroused when he realizes he's turned her >opinion >about having him in her party. His eyes drink in the fluttering action of >her antennae as they angle this way and that with indecision. He knows >well enough to memorize the image, for it may not happen again any time >soon. T'Klkk was a strong female and was rarely caught off guard. Of >course, that made her attractive in the first place. While T'Klkk is thinking to herself, "This way, self-T'Klkk will be able to keep an eye on cellmate-Syzygy and can hopefully forestall an irrational action on his part." :-) It's not that she has a low opinion of Syzygy, she simply does not know how to take him. To her, he is an amalgamation of contradictions, and his at times erratic behaviour has her feeling the need to be constantly on guard. > >Syzygy pipes up again. "Can we gamble that assessing one life support >plant will be built like the other two? What if one of THEM has a back up? >Just wondering. I don't want to lose an advantage after we've committed >ourselves." Again, nodding in Syzygy's direction, appreciating the dialogue and feedback from a teammate, T'Klkk responds, "Self-T'Klkk agrees that this assumption is a definite gamble. However, even if one or more of the other life support plants has a back-up power supply, eliminating the main source of energy to Lost Point will, at the very least, be an inconvenience and will communicate that we mean business." > >Just some thoughts > >- Syzygy "Excellent analysis, Teammate-Syzygy. Self-T'Klkk wonders what the other teammates are thinking." :-) Later. -JWW/T'Klkk
