It was created with my little- ; used MandelbrotMix3 formula, which combines four different ; powers of Z but leaves finding a critical point up to the user. ; Luckily, I have another formula which finds the critical points ; graphically, so this is not too much of a problem. ; ; Today's image is partially evaporated, consisting as it does of ; 80 percent inside and 20 percent outside. The greatest surprise ; came when, trying different inside fills, I found that the ; < zmag > fill gives the most pleasing results. Normally, this ; fill results in too chaotic an effect, but in today's already- ; chaotic scene, it works to near perfection. ; ; The straight criss-crossing ridge-like areas that fill the ; background are most unusual. They appear to have been intro- ; duced artificially, but they are quite natural. A midget of ; sorts lies at the center of attention, where the most prominent ; ridges cross. The midget is not really all there, but its ; strange energy field is very much present, being revealed by the ; inside fill. ; ; Since the image is filled with X's, I named it "X Marks the ; Spot". One glance at the image will show that the rating of 8 ; is fully justified. The 37-minute render time however is a bit ; trying, but the wait can be eliminated by downloading the ; completed GIF image from: ; ; ; ; or from: ; ; ; ; The weather Sunday here at Fractal Central was cloudy and muggy ; with occasional showers of rain. The temperature of 79F 26C ; fell in the comfort range of the fractal cats, but the wet grass ; and drippy trees kept the dynamic duo confined to the indoors ; through most of the afternoon, where they expressed their dis- ; pleasure by making themselves obnoxious. ; ; It's cloudy again this morning, but with a forecast of a drying ; trend starting this afternoon, the cats should have a better ; day. My day will turn better once I have finished the work ; before me. Until next time, take care, and be careful around ; those dangerous fractals. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ X_Marks_the_Spot { ; time=0:37:57.10--SF5 on a P200 reset=2002 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix3 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=-0.3480403693685333/0/728.2051/1/180 params=1/-1.5/0.2/-2/0.15/2/2/0.6/2.11537091657/52\ 5 float=y maxiter=1200 inside=zmag symmetry=xaxis periodicity=10 colors=000QAGN6KK2NJDIJNEvrjkhlaZnS\ PpIFrMChMCkGFhAIe5Lc2kQzBApH8fN6XS5NY3Db2RK4d15T93\ HH25O1S2tPApNHlLPhJWdGc`EjXCrTAyP1hn3fg5da7cW9aPB_\ JDZDNSBWLAdE9m78v17rAFnJNjRVf_bbgjZprWxyTpwRiuPbtM\ VrKOpIHo4rRAnQGkPLhOReNWbMa_LfXL_WITWGMWEFWC8WA9YC\ 9ZDA_EA`FAaGPLQb5_XHWSTTNdQIpNQnUXl`dkfkimrhsneqkb\ og`mdYlaVjYThVQfSOeRK`RGWQCRQ8MQ5HN6KK6MI6PF6RC6UA\ 6W76Z56`IGTVPLgYDsf5lZ9eSDZLGSEKM7NJCMHGMELMCPMATL\ 7YL5aL3eL7`MBWNFRNIMOMHPQCPU7QX3QQ7LKBHEFC8J82N4DT\ FOZQZd`ijkspvolnlhgid_faTcYL`UEYR7XNCXKGXHKXEOWBSW\ 8WW5_W2cSAfPIiMQlJXnIRiHLeGFaF9YF4UKCYOJaSQeWXi_cm\ cjqjknpkk4YOAh3C`4DT5HQAKOEOMIRJNVHRYFV`IPIt1RuM_v\ fhwzbsyXoyRlxLhxGexHXnHPeIHXI9OI1FaoS_pWYp_XqcVqgT\ rkSroUkhWebX_XZTQ`NKaHECJYJOWPTVWYUabTggSk_OnSLrKI\ uCFx4Ct5Gq6Jn7Mk8Pg9SdAVaBYZC`HlYIjZIhZIfZId_Ib_I`\ _PYYWWWcSdjPmqMvqIoqFiqCbq9Xq6Rh9M`CHTFC } frm:MandelbrotMix3 {; Jim Muth z=real(p5), c=fn1(pixel), a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=real(p3), h=imag(p3), j=real(p4), k=imag(p4), l=imag(p5)+100: z=(a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f))+(g*(z^h))+(j*(z^k))+c, |z| <=l } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ; ;
