(IMO, of course) ; So I have rated it at a lofty 9, a rating achieved by very few ; previous images. The image is actually a variation of an early ; FOTD image named Ice Tree, which will be included on the FOTD CD. ; ; That earlier image has the tree firmly rooted in the ground, ; whereas today's variation shows it floating suspended in mid ; air. The icy decoration from the earlier image is still coating ; the branches of the tree, and in addition, two ice-coated bushes ; appear at either side of the floating tree. ; ; The image itself is a scene in the Z^1.5+C Julibrot, sliced in a ; direction rotated 4 degrees from the Julia direction toward the ; Elliptic direction. Changing the exponent of Z a few hundredths ; in either direction causes curious variations in the character ; of the tree. ; ; The coloring is entirely hand-done, and accounts for 99-percent ; of the image's worth. An extra benefit is the short 2-minute ; render time of the parameter file. Another good point is that ; the finished GIF image may be picked up from Paul's web site at: ; ; ; ; and from Scott's site at: ; ; ; ; The weather was sunny but quite chilly here at Fractal Central ; on Friday. The morning low of 26F -3C and afternoon high of 41F ; 5C kept the dynamic duo, which is no longer quite as dynamic, ; confined to the sunny porch, which has been cleared of debris ; but is still roofless. They watched with interest as the ; meanest tomcat in the neighborhood passed by, finally deciding ; that discretion is the better part of valor and letting the ; intruder pass in peace. Today was sunny and milder, and the ; neighborhood bully did not appear. The duo spent almost an ; hour roaming the yard. ; ; I'm still quite busy, both with the FOTD-CD and more profitable ; work, but the fractals will continue coming at a weekly rate ; while the disk is in work. Until next Saturday, take care, and ; treat fractals with respect. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ Floating_Tree { ; time=0:02:26.76--SF5 on a p200 reset=1960 type=formula formulafile=icetree.frm formulaname=multirot-XY-ZW-new function=ident/flip passes=1 center-mag=0.0597552/-1.60982e-015/4.5911\ 12/0.6279/-90/3.88578058618804789e-016 params=90/86/1.5/0/-0.55/0/-0.2/0 float=y maxiter=750 inside=253 logmap=yes periodicity=10 colors=000OezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezO\ ezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOez\ OezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOe\ zOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezUAZU9XU8VU7TU6RU5PU4NU\ 3LU2JU1HU0FU0EU0DU0CU0BU0AU09U08U07U07U07U07U07U0A\ U0FU0KU0PU0UU0ZU0cUKhUPm0Ur0ZwKczShzXmzZrzbwzgzzkz\ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezO\ ezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOez\ OezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOe\ zOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezO\ ezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOez\ OezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOe\ zOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezO\ ezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOez\ OezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOezOe\ zOezOezOezOezOezUUcUUcUUc } frm:multirot-XY-ZW-new {; draws 6 planes and rotations ;when fn1-2=i,f, then p1 0,0=M, 0,90=O, 90,0=E, 90,90=J ;when fn1-2=f,i, then p1 0,0=M, 0,90=R, 90,0=P, 90,90=J a=real(p1)*.01745329251994, b=imag(p1)*.01745329251994, z=sin(b)*fn1(real(pixel))+sin(a)*fn2(imag(pixel))+p3, c=cos(b)*real(pixel)+cos(a)*flip(imag(pixel))+p4: z=z^(p2)+c, |z| <= 36 } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ;
