I appear to have become a specialist in ; finding the little things. This does not mean that I consider ; images with midgets (sometimes called molecules or atoms) at the ; center to be better in any way than fractals without midgets. ; I simply have unintentionally become a specialist in one type of ; fractal. ; ; The midget in today's scene was a total surprise. The scene is ; located in the 'handle' of the fan-shaped element of the parent ; fractal, in an area that appears to be total non-critical chaos ; with no chance at all that midgets could lie there. I cannot ; say what led me to the scene. As is the case with many of my ; images, I simply got a feeling, and followed my instincts. If ; anyone were to ask me how I find these midgets, my only answer ; would be 'I don't know'. ; ; Today's image rates an 8. If I had given it more effort, it ; might have rated a 9, which equals one of the best FOTD images ; of all time. But an 8 equals an exceptionally good image, and ; that is nothing to shrug at. ; ; When I find an (IMO) exceptionally fine image, it renews my ; enthusiasm. If this trend continues, I'll be searching for ; fractals forever. Recognizing this trend, I named today's image ; "Fractals Forever". ; ; Luckily, today's image renders in somewhat less than forever. ; It renders in 15 minutes, in fact. And even that 15 minute wait ; can be avoided by visiting one of the FOTD web sites at: ; ; ; ; and at: ; ; ; ; and downloading the completed GIF image from there. ; ; Clouds and an unusually cool temperature of 50F 10C prevailed ; Saturday here at Fractal Central. The dynamic duo ventured ; briefly into the yard in the evening when we returned from the ; day's adventure and let them out, but the wet grass soon sent ; them back indoors, where they received their treat of tuna. ; ; Today is promising to be a repeat, with the exception that no ; more all-day antiquing trips are in the works. Until next FOTD, ; take care, and walk in peace. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ Fractals_Forever { ; time=0:15:12.43--SF5 on a P200 reset=2002 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix2 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=-0.33556966157394530/+0.031769085133724\ 92/1.169398e+009/1/172.5/1.49805316335127614e-006 params=-10/-1.1/-1/-11/0/525/0/0 float=y maxiter=2400 inside=0 logmap=229 periodicity=10 colors=000AK89J79I68I58H57G47F36E26D15C05C09E1DF2G\ G2KI3NJ3RK4VM5YN5aO6dQ6hR7lS8oU8sV9xV8vW9tWAsWAqXB\ oXCnXClYDjYEiYEgYFeZGdZGbZH`_I__IY_JW_KV`KT`LR`MQa\ MOaNMaOI_NLaONbOPcORdOTeOWfPYgP_hPaiPcjPfkQhlQjmQl\ nQnoQopQoqRpqRprSqsSqsSprUprWorYor_nranrcmremqglqi\ lqkkqmkqojqqjqsjqtiprioqinohmnhllhkkgjigihghffgefg\ cffbee`ed_ecYdbXdaVd`Uc_ScZRcZPbYObXMbWLaVJaUIaTG`\ SF`RD`QC`QBaRBaRBaRBaRBbSBbSBbSBbSBcSBcTBcTBcTBdTB\ dUBdUBdUBeUBeUBeVBeVBfVBfVBfWBfWBgWBgWBgWBgXBhXBhX\ BhXBhXBgYEfYHfYJeZMdZOdZRc_Tb_Wb_Ya_```c``e_`hZajZ\ amYaoXbrXbtWbwWbyU`vT_tSYrRXpQWnPUlOTjNShMQfLPcKOa\ JM_ILYHKWFIUEHSDGQCEOBDMACJ9AH89F78D66B55944732521\ 3101844F76MA8TEA_HCeKEfLFgLGhMHiMIiMJjNKkNKlOLmOMm\ ONnPOoPPpQQqQQqQRrRSsRTtSUuSVuSVvTUwUTxVSyWRzXQzYP\ zZOzZNzZMzZLzZKzZJzZIzZHzZGzZFzZEzZDzZCzZBzZAzZ9zZ\ 9zZCzZEzZGzZIzZKzZMzZAzZ9 } frm:MandelbrotMix2 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(((-a*b*g*h)^j)+(p4)), k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ;
