Many of the same elements ; are there, but with the outside being rendered with the 'fmod' ; option, today's image is different enough to stand on its own ; merits. ; ; Today's rating of 6 is a big come-down from yesterday's perhaps- ; overblown rating of 9. It is still worth a look however. The ; colors, which are not nearly as finely tuned, still get the ; point across. ; ; When I studied the image, searching for a name, I had the ; impression of a Mandelbrot set being dropped into a body of ; colored liquid, creating a huge splash. What could I possibly ; have named the image other than "Ker-splash"? ; ; Curiously, if the bailout radius of today's image is raised to ; 10^100, the image evaporates, leaving a blank screen of all- ; inside points. Then, if the 'fmod' inside-fill option is ; applied to the blank image and the proximity is kept at 0.9, ; today's image will re-appear, the only difference being that ; instead of rendering in 13 minutes, it now takes an hour to ; render, and the inside of the midget now contains detail. ; ; The fastest way to observe today's inside-or-outside image is to ; download it in completed form from either Paul's web site at: ; ; ; ; or from Scott's web site at: ; ; ; ; Clouds hung around all day Tuesday. The sprinkles that began at ; 1pm turned into a steady rain by 6pm. The temperature reached ; 66F 19C, but what good is a pleasant temperature when rain is ; falling? The dynamic duo thought it was no good at all, and ; quickly turned sulky, demanding a treat of tuna before resuming ; their good spirits. Since this morning is cloudy with more rain ; promised, I had best stock up on the tuna. ; ; The heavy clouds do not relieve me of the duty of doing the ; waiting work however, so if I hope to finish, I had best get ; started. Until next FOTD, take care, and watch for lurking ; fractals. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ Ker-splash { ; time=0:13:16.68--SF5 on a P200 reset=2002 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix4 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=-0.02507098225420995/+0.507300152811625\ 00/24216.06/1/-60/4.61438734444818976e-011 params=1/-1.08/-1/1/0/300 float=y maxiter=1200 inside=0 proximity=0.9 outside=fmod logmap=yes periodicity=10 sound=off colors=0003tk2sh3qf3oe3mc3kb3i`4g_4eY4cX4aV4_U5YS5\ WR5VQ5TO5RN6PL6NK6LI6JH6HF7FE7DC7BB799778444767979\ B8CE9EGBHICJLDMNEOPFRSHTUIWWJYZK``LbbNeeOggPjiQliL\ wjOrkRnlTimWenY`o`XpbSqeOrgJsjFun8tm9tlAtlBtkCtkCt\ jDtiEtiFshFshGsgHsfIsfIseJseKsdLtfKseLsdLscLrbMraM\ r`Mr`Mq_NqZNqYNqXNpWOpVOpVOpUOoTPoSPoRPnQQnPQnPQnO\ QmNRmMRmLRmKRlJSlJSlISlHSkGTkFTkETjDUjDUjCUjBUiAVi\ 9Vi8Vi7Vh7Wh6Wh5Wh4Wg3Xg2Xg1Xh0Yg1Xg1Wg1Vf2Vf2Uf2T\ e2Te3Se3Re3Rd3Qd4Pd4Oc4Oc4Nc5Mb5Mb5Lb6Kb6Ka6Ja6Ia7\ H`7H`7G`7F_8F_8E_8D_1B_4CZ6CY8DXBDWDEVFEUHEUIFUJGU\ KHUKIUKJUKKUKLUKMUKNUKOUKPUKPUKQUKRUKSSKTQKUOKVMKW\ KKXKKYKKZKKYKKZKKZKK_KK_KK`KK`KK`KKaKKaKHbKFbKDcIB\ cD6eE7dF8cG9cGAbHAaIBaJC`JD_KD_LEZLFYMGYNGXOHXOIWP\ JVQJVQKURLTSMTTMSTNRUORVPQVPQWQPXROYSOYTNZTM_UM`VL\ `WKaWKbXJbYIcZIdZHe_He`GfaFgaFgbEhcDidDjdCjeBkfBlg\ AlgBlgAlgAm`AoVApPAoPAnPA } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ;
