During the wind-storm on ; Thursday we had another of our traditional power failures, ; which, though brief, was just long enough to put me behind in ; the graphics work. Wanting to avoid another work back-up ; situation, I spent the first part of today catching up on the ; work that should have been finished yesterday. Fortunately, ; when the work was caught up, I had good luck in my fractal ; quest. ; ; That quest took me out the negative stem of the Mandelbrot set ; to the East Valley of the large midget at -1.75, where I found a ; world quite similar to the East Valley area of the M-set ; itself, yet strangely different. The scene I found there ; reminds me of a display of caladium leaves, and I could easily ; have named it "Caladium", but I decided to stick with the bland ; but orderly consecutive 'Mbrot**' numbering system. ; ; The rating of 6 might be a bit conservative, but it's hard to ; give a fractal that has been found almost automatically a rating ; higher than 'a little above average'. The render time of 4-1/2 ; minutes is fast enough to make running the parameter file ; practical, and slow enough to make downloading the completed GIF ; image from: ; ; ; ; or from: ; ; ; ; more convenient. ; ; Tuesday was partly cloudy with a temperature of 46F 8C, but the ; wind gusted over 60mph (near 100kph) during most of the after- ; noon. The constant roar kept the intrepid duo very skittish, ; removing all thoughts of going outside from their heads. They ; passed the day on their shelves by the windows, watching the ; packs of empty trash cans clattering down the street. ; ; Today has been a bit on the busy side, but it is nothing that I ; cannot finish by later this evening. And then it's back to the ; Mandelbrot set to find tomorrow's FOTD. Until tomorrow, take ; care, and there will always be fractals. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Mandelbrot-03 { ; time=0:04:39.13--SF5 on a P200 reset=2002 type=mandel passes=1 center-mag=-1.74999488467703500/-0.000000136207487\ 40/1.425142e+011/1/-100/-0.00196521785314480307 params=0/0 float=y maxiter=100000 bailout=16 inside=0 periodicity=10 colors=000ksalsdpsiqtlstpwtsxwwzwzzwzzxzzxzzxzzszz\ nzzizzdzx_zwVzsQxqLtpGslBqk6ni1lf0id0gd0gb0fb0fa0f\ a0d_0d_0d_0bY0bY0bX0bX0aX0aV0aV0_T0_T0_T0YR0YR0YQ0\ YQ0XQ0XO0XO0VN0VN0VL0VL0TL0TJ0TJ0RI0RI0RI0QG0QG0QE\ 0QE0OE0OD0OD0NB0NB0N90OB0NB0NB0NB0ND0ND0LD0LD0LE0L\ E0LE0LE0JG0JG0JG0JG0JI0JI0II0II0IJ0IJ0IJ0IJ0GL0GL0\ GL1GL1GL1GN2IN4JN6JN8LN9LNBNNDNNEOOGOOIQOJQOLRONRO\ OTOQVORVOTXQVXQXYQYYQ__Q__QaaQbaQdbRfbRgdRidRkfRlg\ RngRpiRqiRskTtkTwlTxlTznTznTzpTzpTzqQzsTzqVzqXzqYw\ q_sqapqblqdiqffqgdqiapkYplVpnRppOpqLpsIptEpwBpw8nx\ 9pxBpxBpxDqxEqxEqxGszIszIszJtzJtzLtzNwzNwzOwzQxzQx\ zRxzRxzTzzVzzVzzXzzYzzZzz`zzbzzbzzczzdzzezzfzzgzzh\ zzizzizzjzzjzykxxjztktpkqilkdkf_j_ViVOhOJgJEfD9e82\ d10d00d00d00d00d00d00d00d00d01d02d06d08d09c0Dc0Ec0\ Gb0Jb0Lb0Nb0Qb0Rb0Tb0Xb0Ya0aa0ba0da0ga0ia0ka0na0bi\ ObkQblQblQbnQbpQbpQfqVgqY } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ;
