To begin, it is an ; 'evaporated' scene in a fractal created by a formula that I ; invented at random, using nothing but alternating 1's and 4's. ; In addition, the 'all-inside' picture has been rendered with the ; inside=fmod option, with the proximity set to 0.24177, a setting ; that is rather critical. ; ; The resulting image consists of dark zig-zagging arms ; highlighted by points of fiery brilliance. But strangely, the ; brilliant points exist only in the upper two-thirds of the ; image. The lower third is a dull black and blue. ; ; Near the center lies the ubiquitous midget, appearing much like ; an exploding skyrocket. This fireworks effect inspired the name ; "Fractal Farworks". The mis-spelling is intentional, ; representing both the infinitude of the universe of fractals and ; the way the word is pronounced here in the local area. ; ; After meditating on the image for several minutes, I could find ; no reason for rating it higher than the 5 which I assigned it. ; The render time of the parameter file is a moderate 6 minutes, ; which can be cut significantly by downloading the completed ; image from: ; ; ; ; or from: ; ; ; ; With snow and sleet falling all day Friday and the temperature ; hovering around freezing, the fractal cats had as pleasant a day ; as possible, sitting on their shelves by the windows, watching ; the birds outside scrounging for food. Their day ended with a ; treat of tuna. Snow is still falling this morning, with around ; 1 foot 30cm on the ground. I guess the cats will have a repeat ; day. ; ; As for me, I'm simply going to relax and watch the snow. In ; between snowflakes I might find a fractal. And if I do, which ; is a near certainty, the fractal will appear as tomorrow's FOTD. ; Until then, take care, and then take more care. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ Fractal_Farworks { ; time=0:06:10:15--SF5 0n a P200 reset=2002 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=mandelbrotmix4 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=+2.03354144153070000/-0.028206890074231\ 47/30377.39/1/-89/1.78200502964909191e-010 params=14/-1.414/1/-14.14/-1.4/1e+100 float=y maxiter=1800 bailout=9 inside=fmod proximity=0.24177 logmap=yes periodicity=10 colors=0000UzzS`zMgzFoz9vzGozMizSbzYXzcQziKzjLzjMz\ kNzkOzlPzlPzmQzmRzmSznTznTzoUzoVzpWzpXzpXznWzmVzlU\ zkTzjSziRzgQzfPzeOzdNzcMzbLzaLzcNzdOzeQzfRzhSziUzj\ VzkXzmYznZzo`zpazqbzr_zrYzrWzsTzsRzsPztMztKztIzuFz\ uDzuBzu9zvZzvwzwrzwnzxizxezyazyXzzTzzOzzKzzGzzJzzM\ zzPzzSzzVzzYzz`zzczzfzzizzlzzozzrzznzzkzzhzzezzbzz\ _zzWzzTzzQzzNzzKzzHzzHzzHzzHzzHzz`zzbzzczzezzgzzhz\ zizzjzzkzzlzzmzznzzozzozzpzzqzzrzzszztzzuzzuzznzzh\ zzazzWzzSzzPzzMzzJzzFzzCzz9zz6zz3zz2zz2zz2zz1zz1zz\ 1zz1zz2zz3zz4zz4zz5zz6zz7zz7zz8zz9zzAzwAyrFxnKwjPu\ fUsaZqYcoUhmQmkMriOpgPneQlcRkaSi_TgYUeWVdUWbPX`KYZ\ GZYE_WC`UBaTCU`DMgDFnBEj00K9Cc8B_7AX69T58Q89PB9OD9\ NGAMJALLAKOAJRBITBHWBGZCF`CEcCDeCCdGDcKEcOFbSGaVHa\ ZI`bJ_fK_iLaeJcbHe_FgXEiUCkQAmN8oK7qH5sE3tB2uEAuHI\ vKQvNXwQdwTlwWstVqqUonUmkTkhSieSgbRe`Rd_Qf_PgZOiZN\ jYMlYLmXKnXJpWIqWHsVGtaZT } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ;
