And that is what happened ; to me yesterday as I was deciding which part of Fractal Land ; to explore. Moved by eternal hope, I finally decided on a ; different part of the same fractal that held the 'half- ; elephant' image which appeared on January 11. ; ; I constantly hope to find a truly outstanding midget in the ; Mandeloids with exponents between 1 and 2; I never have found ; one. But hope springs eternal, and I keep trying, apparently ; unable to learn from the years of coming up short. ; ; Today's image shows a very typical midget in the Z^(1.5)+C ; Mandeloid. As is true with almost all other midgets in this ; range, the area is far too broken and chaotic to make an ; impressive image. Maybe the truly great scenes are there, ; hiding somewhere in some remote corner of the parent fractal, ; but somehow I doubt it. ; ; But, being a hopeful fellow, I will continue searching for ; something that I know might not exist. Any unusual scenes I ; come upon in my search will appear as a FOTD. Most scenes will ; vanish into the limbo reserved for deleted fractal images. ; ; In all honesty, I could rate today's image no higher than a 4, ; which, combined with the render time of just under 12 minutes, ; gives an overall value of 33. There are two ways to see the ; image: first, by running the included parameter file; second, by ; downloading the completed GIF image from Paul's FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; The dynamic duo of fractal cats had one of their best days in ; quite a while here at Fractal Central on Monday. When the ; temperature reached 46F 8C shortly after noon, they paraded to ; the door and asked in unison to go out. They looked almost like ; kittens as they romped in the dead grass and played hide-and-go- ; seek in the holly thicket. When evening came they were ready to ; come indoors to eat and sleep. Today looks like a repeat, but ; another cold wave is on the way, and due to arrive toward eve- ; ning. Hopefully, the duo will finish romping before the cold ; air arrives. ; ; And also hopefully, my work will be finished before the duo ends ; their romp. Until next time, take care, and when, if ever, will ; the new anti-spam law start working? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ HopeSpringsEternal { ; time=0:11:57.49--SF5 on a P200 reset=2002 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC1 function=floor passes=1 center-mag=-0.81193569327624530/+0.514042346538518\ 10/4.870091e+007/1/25/1.19288052269350686e-007 params=1.5/0/1.5/0 float=y maxiter=1800 inside=0 logmap=326 periodicity=10 colors=000g70m60a70e90`90ZA0fC1fC3dD4cD6aF7`G9_GAX\ ICVJDTJFSLFQLGPMIMOJLOLJPMIQOGQPFSQCSS9TT4VV0VX0XY\ 0XY0VX0TV0TT0SS0SQ0QP0QO1PM3PL4OJ6OI7MG7MG9LFAJDCJ\ CDIAFI9GG7IG6JF4LF3MD1OD0PC0PC0SA6VADYAL`AQcAYf9di\ 9ll9ro9yr9zu9zsDzsGzrJzrMzpPzpTzpXzo_zoazmdzmizllz\ lozlrzjuzjyzizzizzgzzgzzgzzczz`zzYzzTzvQzrOzmLziGy\ dDx`AvX7sS3rO0pJ0oF0mC0oD0oD0oD0oD0oD0oD0oD1oD1oD3\ pD3pD4pD4pD6pD6pD7pD7pD9pD9pDArDArDCrDCrDDrDDrDFrD\ FrDGrDGrDIoFImFJlFJjGLiGLgGMfIMdIOcIOaIO_JPYJPXJQV\ LQTLSSLSQMTPMTOMTMMYDX`4fc0pa1ma7j`Dg`Jd_Pa_V_Y_XY\ dTXjQXpOVvLVzITzFTzC`zAgzAmz9uz9zz9yzAyzAyzAyxCyvC\ ysCyrCyoDymDyjDyiFyfFydFyaFy`GyYGyXGyTGySIyPIyOIyL\ JyJJyGJyFJyCLyALy7Ly6Lv7Ms7Op9Om9PjAQiAQfCScCT`DTY\ DVVFXTFXQGYOG_LI_II`FJaDJagScz`dzafzafzagzagzaizci\ zdjzfjzglzilzjmzlmzmozoozppzrpzsryuryvsxxsxyuvzuvz\ vuzvuzxszxszyrzyrzzpzzpzz } frm:MandelbrotBC1 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
