When the ; tiny bit of Z^100 turned out to be not so insignificant, I added ; 0.03 parts more Z to the mixture on a whim. To complete the ; mixture, I multiplied the entire thing by 1.1 by setting ; real(p3) to 0.1. (I could have done the same thing by changing ; real(p1) to 1.133, real(p2) to 0.00011, while leaving real(p3) ; at zero.) I then began my exploration. ; ; With these parameters, all the action lies beyond the west ; border of the default screen, but can easily be found with one ; outzoom. I'll not try to describe what lies there, but it does ; have a tiny East Valley populated by elephants that remind me of ; the 'Flattop' character of the Dick Tracy comic strip. Today's ; scene lies on the southern shore of that valley, in the trunk of ; one of the flat-topped elephants. ; ; There are so many interesting things in today's image that, when ; I studied it, searching for a name, it reminded me of a congrega- ; tion of fractal features. I named the image "Congregation" ; accordingly. The rating of an 8 might be a bit overblown, but, ; with its plethora of detail, the image is definitely above ; average. The overall value is held down to a 26 by the 1/2-hour ; render time, but the image is still worth the time spent. ; ; And as always, those who would rather not spend time rendering ; images may see the completed image on the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; With more sun than expected and a temperature of 48F 9C, Monday ; turned out to be a better day than had been forecast by the ; experts. The fractal cats, who don't listen to weather reports, ; were never concerned, and had a quite pleasant afternoon in the ; yard. Thomas even worked up enough energy to bat around a few ; dried-out magnolia leaves. In the evening, the duo retired ; without asking for tuna. Today is starting cloudy and cold. ; We'll see what happens with the duo. ; ; For me, it appears today will be un-notable. But I'll try to ; find a fractal worthy of at least some note. My success (or ; lack thereof) will appear in tomorrow's FOTD. Until then, take ; care, and don't go along with the non-fractal crowd. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ Congregation { ; time=0:30:23.81--SF5 on a P200 reset=2003 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix4 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=-7.39578216954515400/-0.236832685099223\ 50/2.07789e+008/1/97.5001386452413072/-0.000193294\ 786338664426 params=1.03/1/0.0001/100/0.1/0 float=y maxiter=9000 inside=0 logmap=572 periodicity=10 colors=0004M24N23P23Q22R22S21T21U20V20W25Y8A_DFaIK\ cNOeTTgYYibbkgfmlhonipojqqlrrmssntupuvqvxrwysxzqly\ paxoRwnGvmJsmMpmOmmRjlTglWelYbl`_kcXkeUkhSkjPjmMjo\ JjrGjtEZmLOgRCaY1Wc3Xe4Yf5Zg6_i7`j8ak9bmBcnCdoDeqE\ frFgsGhuHivIjwJgsJepJbmJ`jJZgJWdJUaKRYKPVKNSKKPKIM\ KFJKDGKBDJFHJILJMPJPTJTXJW`I_cIbgIfkIioImsIpwIszPn\ vWjrbfnibjpZgodbniYmoTmtPluSkvUkwWjxYiy_izafnVdbOb\ RH`FAUQJN`SGk`AvhGsbMpYSmTYjNcfIicDo`8la7i`6f`6c_5\ `_5Y_4Va4Sc3Re3Ug4Xi4_k4bm4eo4hq5ks5nu5qw5ty5wzNzz\ dzzuzzzzzzzzzzzzwvutrmomeehYWcQWeIWgASi7Ut7Zw7cu8h\ t9msArrBzqCzpDroEmmFclGUkHKjI9iJ8zK8gL7eQ7cV6aZ6_c\ 5Yh5Wl4Uq4Tu6Xq7_n8bj9egBhcCk`DnXEqUFtRTbbeLnr4yp9\ snEnlJikOdiS_gXVfaQdfLbkGaoBmm_xkxslwnmvimvdnu_otV\ otQpsLpsKqmJqhIrcHrZGsUFsPEtKDtFCuACu5Gv6Kw7Ox8Sy9\ Vz9ZzAbzBfzCizCmzDqzEuzFxzFuzDszCqzBozAmz9kz8hz7fz\ 6dz5bz4`z3Zz2Xz16z25z25z2 } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ;
