This parent fractal is not really a single ; fractal, but rather a scattering of tiny open areas, some of ; which are small Mandelbrot sets, while others are mere shapeless ; holes. The place I chose to explore was the area just east of ; the tiny westernmost M-set. ; ; This area holds many scattered bits and pieces of fractal ; debris. Much of this debris is concentrated around large ; central disks, like satellites circling a planet. The debris is ; plentiful, but only a few pieces contain midgets. Today's image ; shows a midget lying in this field of debris. ; ; I named the image "The Golden Egg". The golden color is ; obvious, but as for that egg, well, I have no idea where it ; might be. I rendered the image with the outside set to 'tdis'. ; I find I am using this option more often, since it does rather ; well on disconnected scenes such as today's, where the standard ; 'iter' rendering falls flat. ; ; I could rate the image no higher than a 5. It is not all that ; striking and we have seen many similar images before. But the ; render time is only 3-1/2 minutes, which raises the overall ; value to a respectable 147. Perhaps the most respectable way to ; see the golden egg image is to download it from Paul's web site ; at: ; ; ; ; Friday here at Fractal Central was warm and sunny enough until ; 2pm, when a rain squall arrived and the temperature dropped from ; 86F 30C to 67F 19C. When the wind arose, the cats beat a hasty ; retreat and spent the rest of the day on their window shelf, ; watching the outside activity from inside. By evening they were ; mildly annoyed, but only a minor treat of tuna was needed to ; make them happy. This morning it is cooler with lots of clouds. ; The duo is likely to have another less-than-perfect day. ; ; For me it's likely to be an uneventful day, that is unless the ; aliens arrive from space. Since I expect no aliens, I will be ; free to return in 24 hours with another fractal. Until then, ; take care, and I wonder if the aliens know about fractals. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ The_Golden_Egg { ; time=0:03:24.70--SF5 on a P200 reset=2003 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix3a function=recip passes=1 center-mag=-1.54575313438937500/+0.827504998767173\ 40/3.087104e+007/1/-170/-3.94734106006627838e-006 params=1/-1.5/-1/1.5/0.333/-4.5/-0.333/4.5/-1/0 float=y maxiter=500 inside=0 outside=tdis periodicity=10 colors=000AJ08T08d06m66xC4zH4zL0zE0s80g24dARbGm`Ls\ REvJ8zC2z40z00z00z00z00z00z00z00x00u00q40o60uAEzCX\ zGqzHzzJzuRzbXzJdm0i`4ZP6PE8G2A60C00XC0oR0zd0zg0zi\ 0zm0zo0zs2zu4zx6zz8zvTssmbozNmzRbzVRzZGzb4ze0zi0zm\ 0zq0zu0zx4xzEqiHiVLbEPX0TP0XJ0RH0LH8GGGAGN4EV0Eb0E\ e4GgEHkNJmVLqdNsmPvvRxzRkxNZuJLqGAkE0gA0d60`40XEEV\ NZRXsPdgbiZomNzqEzu4zxzzXieGGG000000bECkPLs`Vzkdzv\ mzzvzdXzC8z00uZ0Zz0Cz2Lz2Vz4bz4kz4uu6zq6zm6zi4xe4d\ b2JZ20V20X60X82XCEZERZHbZJm0uE0oGAkGRgHedHmVJuNLzG\ Nz6Pz0Rz0Tz0Vzz8ozAdxCToEHdE6TG0JH08J00J06GCECVL8m\ T4z`0ze0zdCzbNz``zZkuZv6GL00e00x00s00o00k00g04d28`\ 4CX4EVbXmzozz00z00z00v08m2Ge4Lqd6zz0qzzvzvzzkzz`zz\ NzvCzq0zm0zb0zT4zJCzAJz0Rz0Zo8NXNCEd00s00m00gA0dH0\ ZR0T`0Pg0Jq0Gx2TvCduLqsVzqdzomzmdzgXzbNzZGzT6zN0zJ\ EzGTzEgxAvo8zg6z8mz0zz0zzCezTJzk0zz0kv0TsH8od0kzgR\ 0biNXzuTxs44`66N86AA80C80 } frm:MandelbrotMix3a {; Jim Muth z=real(p5), c=fn1(pixel), a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=real(p3), h=imag(p3), j=real(p4), k=imag(p4), l=imag(p5)+100: z=(a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f))+(g*(z^h))+(j*(z^k))+c, |z| <=l } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ; ;
