For some reason known only to the ; higher authority, the buds have choked off and changed into ; distorted quadratic midgets, while curious new open areas have ; appeared, in the form of round holes connected by tooth-like ; spirals to infinity. ; ; I have named the image "Scene of Discovery". After all, it is ; at least a minor discovery. The two circular areas in the left ; half of the image, along with the tooth-spiral connecting them, ; form one of the more unusual hole complexes I have found in the ; world of fractals. ; ; Even with the maxiter of 15000, the edge of the valley, on the ; upper right, is not fully defined. But the render time of 48 ; minutes is already unreasonably long, so I decided to be ; satisfied with less than full definition. ; ; Since I can see nothing really above average in the artistic ; aspect of the image, I have rated it at a 5. The slow render ; time reduces the overall value to an unexceptional 10. ; Considering all this, the best way to view the scene is to let ; Paul render it and post it to the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; Clouds, cool temperatures in the 60'sF (around 18C), and ; occasional light rain kept the fractal cats indoors and the ; cicadas quiet here at Fractal Central on Monday. The cats ; cheered up in the evening when they had their treat of tuna; the ; cicadas cheered up this morning when they saw the sun and warmer ; temperatures. ; ; I'll cheer up when the latest pile of work is behind me. Until ; next FOTD, take care, and don't be too busy to enjoy the fractal ; side of life. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ Scene_of_Discovery { ; time=0:48:19.02--SF5 on a P200 reset=2003 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC2 passes=1 logmap=24 center-mag=-0.7088779767/-0.2550825285/255.7718/1/\ 25/-2.66779653923521209e-013 params=2.01/0.03/0/0 float=y maxiter=15000 inside=0 periodicity=10 colors=000QYUSYUTZUUZTW_TX_SY`S_`S`aRaaRcbQdbQebQg\ cPhcPidOkdOleOmeNofNpfMqgMsgMthLuhLvhMvhLsfKpdKmbJ\ m`ImZImXHmVHmSGmQFmOFmMEmKDmIDmGCmBDmECmHCmKBmNBmQ\ AmTAmW9mZ9ma8md8mg7mj7mm6mp6ms5mv5mx5mw6lv6ku6jt6j\ s7js7jr7jq7jp8jo8jn8jn8jm9jl9jk9jj9jiAjiAjhAjgAjfB\ jeBjdBjdBjcCjbCjaCj`Ci_Bj`Cj`Cj`Cj`Dk`Dk`Dk`Ek`Ek`\ ElaElaFlaFlaFmaGmaGmaGmaHmaHnbHnbHnbInbIobIobJobJo\ bJobJnaMn`Om_Qm_SlZVlYXkYZkX`jWbjVeiVgiUihTkhTmeWk\ bYi`_gYaeWddTfbRh`OjZLlXJoWGqUEsSBuQ9wPEuNJsMNqLSo\ KXmI`kHeiGjgFneEmeFmeGaZbbYbcXbcWadWadVaeUafTafT`g\ SahRbhQciPdiPejOfkNgkMhlMimLjmKknJlnJmoInpHopGpqGq\ rFrrEssDttEusDvrCwrBxqAyp9zp9zo8zn7zn6zm5zl4zm0zl4\ zl7zlBzlEzkIzkLzkOzkSzkVzjZzjazjezjhzmszkozjkzigzh\ czf_zeWzdSzcOzcGzbIzbKzaLzaNz`Oz`Qz_Rz_TzZVzZWzYYz\ YZzX`zXazWczWezVfzVhzUizUkzFpzNnzUlz`jzghznfzlgzkg\ zjgzigzhhzghzfhzehzdizciz } frm:MandelbrotBC2 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*floor(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
