Like so many fractals ; that are created by combining negative exponents of Z, this ; fractal is indescribable. Like the familiar Mandelbrot set, it ; has bays and valleys, but the inner detail of these features is ; totally unlike anything found in the M-set. Today's scene is ; located on the north edge of a valley on the positive real axis ; of the parent. ; ; An unusual feature of the scene is that it is not there. The ; scene has been 'evaporated' by raising the escape radius so high ; that all points are trapped. The trapped points are not dead ; however. They still have freedom to move around, and this ; motion has been made visible by the 'bof61' inside fill, which ; colors the points according to which iteration takes them ; closest to the origin. ; ; The image so produced appears as today's FOTD, which earns its ; rating of a 7 quite honestly. I have named it "Curse of the ; Creature" in recognition of those not-so-great old movies that ; they just don't seem able to make any longer. There might be ; some kind of creature lurking somewhere in the image. If I ; looked long enough, I'm sure I could find one. But the image is ; good enough as it is. We'll keep the creatures where they ; belong -- in the old movies. ; ; The render time of just under 14 minutes combines with the ; rating of 7 to give an overall value of a neat 50. And if the ; image is downloaded from: ; ; ; ; the rendering will be eliminated and the value will rise. ; ; A cloudy cool day here at Fractal Central on Friday turned into ; light rain in the evening, but the cat duo got in enough yard ; time before the rain began to keep them reasonably happy. Only ; a little tuna was needed to make their day complete. Today is ; starting with clouds, cool temperatures and rain. Hopefully, it ; will turn dry in time for the cats to have their outdoor romp. ; ; With me, the work is mostly caught up, and the next FOTD fractal ; will appear in approximately 24 hours. Until then, take care, ; and be lucky. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE================================ CurseOfTheCreature { ; time=0:13:57.77--SF5 on a P200 reset=2003 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix4 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=+2.37819276581849900/+0.001714053513647\ 82/1.158226e+007/1/152.5/-1.09526888978292436e-005 params=1/-1.65/0.2/-8.25/0/1e+100 float=y maxiter=1700 inside=bof61 periodicity=10 colors=000x99sEEnJIjNMeSQaWUX`YSeaOieJniFrmGonGmnG\ joGhoGepGcpG`qGZqGWrGUrGSrCVg8XX4ZM6TO8OQAJRCETE9V\ F4WUOKhg9feAecAdaAb`AaZB`XBZWBYUBXSBWQCUPCTNCSLCQK\ CPIDOGDNEDLDDKBDJ9EH8EG6EF4EE3EG5DI6DK8CM9COABQCBS\ DAUFAWG9YH9_J8aK8cL7eN7gO6iQ6kR5mS5oU4qV4sW4n_MidT\ ehZamdYqjWmfUjcTf_RcXQ`UPZTOYTOWTNVSMTSMSSLQSKPRKN\ RJMRIKQIJQHHQGGQGEPFDPEBPEAOD8OC7OC6O96J76EBAFEDGI\ HHLKIONJSRKVUKZYLa`MdcNhgOkjPnmPedWXWaONhFFnIIoLLo\ NOoQQoTToVWpYZp``pbcpefpghp9ckEaiI_gMYeQWdUUbYS`aQ\ _eOYiMWmLVnSUnZUneUnlUnsUnzUoxRowOpuLptJqsGqqDrpAr\ o8rp7rq7rr6rs6rt6ru5rv5rw4rx4rx4ow8mwCjvGhvJeuNcuR\ auUcrSeoQflOhiNjgLkdJmaHoZGpWErUCtRAuO9wL7yI5zG4vH\ 8sHCpHGmIKiIOfIScJW`J_XJcUKgRKkOKoLKrKMiKN`KPSKQJK\ RBJUAIWAHYAG_AFaAEd9Df9Ch9Bj9Al9An9Gj9Lf9Qb9WZ9`V9\ eR9kN9pJ9uF9uIBuLCuOEuQFuTHuWIuYKu`LucNueOuhQukRum\ TupUusWjAJmAIo9Gq9Et9Cv9A } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE================================== ; ;
