This has nothing to ; do with a certain well-known rabbit. I simply gave it that name ; because these words were the first to come to mind when I saw ; the image. (Sometimes I like to leave the room while fast ; fractals are rendering, and give myself a surprise when I ; return.) And let's face it, the image is unusual enough to ; justify the name. ; ; The parent fractal, which combines negative portions of Z^(-1.5) ; and Z^(-3.5), then adds (1/C), is one of those huge sprawling ; affairs that needs an outzoom before it fits onto the screen. ; Today's scene is found in the vicinity of a valley, which the ; parent fractal has many of. Surprisingly, the image was ; rendered with the outside set to the ancient setting of 'iter'. ; (No one uses that setting nowadays. We have long ago seen all ; it has to offer, and far better things are available.) ; ; The image is good enough to earn its rating of 7. Its render ; time of 2-1/2 minutes can be cut to 1-1/2 minutes by switching ; the passes to g. And if all else fails, the image may be down- ; loaded from the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; Saturday turned out better than expected here at Fractal ; Central, with ample afternoon sun and a high temperature of 72F ; 22C. True, a thunder-storm moved in at 6pm, with wind, heavy ; rain, pea-sized hail and crackling lightning, but by then the ; cats had completed their daily adventure in the outdoors, and ; had taken shelter in the large closet. This morning is starting ; sunny but quite a bit cooler. It should be good enough for the ; duo. ; ; A book arrived in the mail yesterday, "The Road to Reality" by ; Penrose, which looks quite interesting. I think I'll give it a ; quick read (if possible) before continuing with my speculative ; philosophy. There might be something in it that will change one ; of my opinions. The next FOTD fractal will appear 24 hours from ; now. Until then, take care, and maybe the reason we can't find ; reality is because nothing is real. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= What's_Up_Doctor { ; time=0:02:39.34--SF5 on a P200 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix4 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=+2.44491651853969700/-1.039215140847656\ 00/571.2366/1/-137.5/-6.58972182376871274e-012 params=-1/-1.5/-0.3/-3.5/0/0 float=y maxiter=500 inside=0 logmap=43 periodicity=10 colors=0004JP6PS6VV6VX4__3c`1gc0jd0of0si0xj0zl0zo0\ zp0zrgzzazjzypzydzyTzyIzy6zp0zi0zV4zF9z0DOizMdyL`u\ JXpISlGOgGLdFG`DCXC7SA3O90J90GA0LC3PD7TFAXGF`IIdJM\ iJPlLTpMXuO`yPczQgzSjzSmzPjzMizJgzGfvDdrAcm9`i6_d3\ Y`0XX0VS0TO0SL0PO0MP0LS0IT0FX0DY1A`37a46d43f60i70j\ 90m90oD0lG0jL0iO0gS0dV0c_0aa0`f0Yi0Xm0Vp0Ts0Ss9QsL\ P`DQI6S00TC0SO_dFr7LvJPyVTzfS00VTPz0`pYiT0vz00sGDl\ YQdoddzY00sGVrCA0OcM0l`Ivi007Iy0OzCTzY4z_Jzizx0uXM\ ioa0Gf3TiDflOsoiv0fy6czM`za00i3MlJiosz7gzVA0zMYxJI\ 30GT`udm6vg0aa0Md0df6vgFzpSrydXzpAzjJzdSz_`yTgpQii\ Oi`LiTJiVapXuvszzmzzgzxazuOP3TjTjVffgjauog4zzz0mzQ\ FLQPidFzpQArTVrXmr9jPMvcXxxzJyx`vjpsI0zgV0amO04CF`\ YOz07jXFpaLvgSzmV6Tz0cpOifjmQMIyzmrzojzpczrV6OTAJX\ c`1zsAzrIzrQzrzzTyDYjdg0zoAzpMzrSDx07z9OzIaxQruaXa\ _ojm_Xigadpg`ym60zGFxPfuvSPilc00zFVx0ro9vpIypQzrz4\ Ym`g`DPV4oXQpYlr0zz4VJ4VM } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ;
