This parent fractal is located far out of the usual ; range, at -99 on the negative X-axis. It is little more than a ; series of vague circles with an active area with a tiny Mandel- ; oid on the east side. This Mandeloid is rotated 180 degrees and ; distorted in an indescribable way, but despite its distortion, ; it holds many areas of interest. ; ; Today's scene is located in a nest of ribbon-like shafts that ; converge on the East Valley of the Mandeloid, which actually ; lies on the west side of the main bay. Seeing the potential ; for ribbons in the initial fractal, I attempted to create a ; color palette that would highten the impression of festive decor- ; ations. It was successful enough to rate the result at a 7. ; ; The name "Satin Ribbons" is self-explanatory. The midget at the ; center lies just beyond the limit of resolution, which is so ; close to the actual magnitude of the image that it was necessary ; to add the 'mathtolerance' entry to the parameter file to assure ; that the image calculates at the correct magnitude. ; ; And let's face it, the 16-minutes required to calculate the ; image is a bit much for today's active fractalist to swallow. ; Luckily, relief it at hand on the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; where the image has been calculated and posted for all fractal ; fans to see and enjoy without delay. ; ; Hazy skies and a mild temperature of 50F 10C made things rather ; pleasant outdoors here at Fractal Central on Sunday. The ; fractal cats made things rather pleasant indoors when they ; managed to get through the day without getting into mischief. ; My day was about as pleasant as could be expected. The next ; FOTD, which will appear in 24 hours, will hopefully be equally ; pleasant. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Satin_Ribbons { ; time=0:16:02.96--SF5 on a P200 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix4 function=ident center-mag=-98.99768716313547000/-0.00195092620905\ 970/3.573522e+010/1/31.4/-0.00267053341109015768 params=1/101/100/0.01/0/0 float=y maxiter=4500 inside=0 periodicity=10 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000OUnQVjSXfUYbX_ZZ`V`bRbcNdeJffFppbloZinWf\ mTclQ`kNemLaoKYjKVeKR`KNWK5TBDSGKRKSQPTNEZQTcRedSf\ dSgdShdSidSjdSkdQmdSkeTigUgiVekKcm4ao9_qDYnHWlLUiP\ ShTUiUVjVWkWXlXXmYUkZRi_OeaN`cRWdWSfRShWSd_S_cSWhS\ RlUMrTNqSNpROoQOnPPmOPlNQkMQkLRjKRiJShISgHTfGTeJYs\ HVlFTeEQZCOSAML9JE7H76F0AD2EC4IB6MA8Q9AU8CY6Ea5Ge4\ Ii3Km2Mq1Ok3Kf4G`5CW68P31R75SB9UFDVJHXMLYQP_USaYWd\ a_fdchhgjqzkrxlrvmqumprnonomkplgqjdqg`qeYqcUqcRqbN\ qaKq`Gq_DqZ9qY2qY6qZAq_Eq`IqaKpbLpcMpdMpdNpeOpfOpg\ PphQoiSojUokWolYom_poappcqreqsgtuivvkuvssvprunqtlp\ sjoqhnpfmodlnakm_jkYijWhiUghSggRifQkdUmaYpZatWewTi\ uQkrNhkKccFZWAUO6PG5KG5JG5H95FB8HCBIDEJEGKGJLHMMIO\ NJRPKUQMXRNZSOaTPdUPhXQfVQeWRcYRb_QcaPdcOeeNegMfiM\ fkMfmMgkMgiLggLgeLhcLhaLh_KhYKiWKiUKiS5lQDjOKiNRgM\ YfLddKjgIkeJkcJkaKk_KkYLkXLkVMkTMlRMlPNlONlMOlKOlI\ PlGPpGNlFPhFQeFSRUlJQwMSr } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ;
