I guess lunar craters are not ; worth much because after careful consideration I decided not to ; give it a rating. ; ; The parent fractal came about when I combined 10 parts of ; Z^(-0.3) with Z^3.4 and added (1/C). This parent fractal ; appears as a small Mandelbrot set surrounded by a field of ; disconnected satellite areas of chaos. Today's image is located ; in a remote satellite far to the northeast of the central M-set. ; ; The ring-like effect that reminds me of craters was created by ; calculating the image with the outside set to 'tdis'. I believe ; this option measures the total distance the points travel before ; they escape. The other outside options give images that are too ; chaotic. ; ; The image is a very fast one, taking only 1 minute on my tired ; old machine. It will go even faster on the SOTA units that are ; able to run Fractint and also display the DOS VESA video modes. ; Those who do not render may see the image by going to the FOTD ; web site at: ; ; ; ; and viewing it there. ; ; Thick clouds and a mild temperature of 61F 16C prevailed here at ; Fractal Central on Thursday. The fractal cats made the most of ; the situation by trashing another newspaper. They were quite ; hungry when the time for a treat arrived. ; ; My day was a little busier than yesterday, but still on the slow ; side. The idle times verged on boredom. I am getting impatient ; with the slowness of the recovery from the injury of 7 weeks ; ago. But luckily, it is not possible to get excessively bored ; in a world filled with fractals. The next FOTD will appear in ; 24 hours. Until then, take care, and look up. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Craters_of_theMoon { ; time=0:01:01.96--SF5 on a P200 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix4 function=recip center-mag=-0.09604425985233628/+0.005889632479975\ 37/2.00283e+012/1/95.0966371678279785/-0.087088540\ 2672808562 params=1/3.4/10/-0.3/0/0 float=y maxiter=350 inside=0 outside=tdis logmap=24 periodicity=10 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000fVIcclcbmcanc`nc_oc_oa`l`ai_bfZbcYc`XdYW\ dV`__dVciPhmKmqFq_TeIeV0bK2gU4dc6ZmXcgWFraLnfRkLBQ\ PBOTBMXCK`CIdCHjOFoZEuiCztBpq9go7Yl6Pj4Fg26e1Bd8Gc\ FLbMQbSVaZ_`ed_lh_reTjcNbaHWcLVePVgTViXVk`VmdVohVk\ fxngrqgmthgvo6vmCvlHvkNvjSviYJwubokq9frEesIesNdtRd\ uWcu_cvdbtrPupRuoTumVvlXvjZvi`Y5oaAmdFkgKjjPhmUfpZ\ esccW2WaBYfKZlS`q`a2z5VqMTwEZtJdqOjnTpkYpvYrsZsp_t\ m`ujadXsgZpj`mmbjpdgsfdcXFfZIh_LkaOmbRodUreXtg_qFk\ tUfBMy6qwKnqXllijgFz9LwDQuHWsL`qOfnSklWqj_Hk9SjHai\ OlhWlkbnjbpibribthbi3jlChoKfqTet`c3wp45s6q3BhmHhkN\ hjThhZhgdhfjhdphc9DaMLbYTbj`b6F6FKCOPHXUNeZSncYFWO\ MYRS_TYaVdcXjeZpg`LnQTlT`kWgjYoi`vgRvhTvhVvhXvhYvh\ _vha5`vJbqWdlifgEd`Qea`fakgbfWCTHNYLQaPSeTUjXXn`Zr\ d`4eyV6sZCpbInfNkjTinYfrcdaDJdIMgNPjRSmWVp_Ysd`rfv\ sgrtgotgluhhvheg6`oQaDUAKXFRZJX`NcbRidVpfZqFrrKosP\ ltUjuZgvcdgQRkVUo_Xsd_cTF } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ;
