I named it ; "Web of the Gods". I am not sure whether the church doctrine ; says purgatory still exists, but regardless, the image is a ; striking one. And if a God did not create the possibility of ; fractals, who or what did? ; ; The fractal formula subtracts Z^(-0.5) from Z^(1.5) to produce a ; parent fractal that resembles a warped Mandelbrot set with a ; field of twisted filaments lying to the northwest. The image is ; located rather deep on one of these filaments. ; ; I could have rated the fiery image at either an 8 or a 9. Being ; on the conservative side, I decided on an 8, but I guess the ; most accurate rating would be an 8-1/2. ; ; The render time of 7-1/2 minutes is well within reason for such ; a striking image. Running the included parameter file is the ; most enjoyable way to view the web of the gods, but visiting the ; FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; and viewing the completed image there is the most efficient. ; ; Sunny skies and a temperature of 43F 6C made Sunday an average ; day here at Fractal Central. The fractal cats were unusually ; frisky most of the day, chasing each other up and down the hall- ; way, with their feet on the wood floor creating the sound of a ; distant stampede. But by the time the evening treat was served, ; they had settled down enough to eat their fill. ; ; My day was uneventful, which allowed me the time to find and ; create today's unusually attractive image. If tomorrow is ; equally uneventful, the FOTD fractal is likely to be well above ; average again. But in the world of fractals, nothing is guaran- ; teed, so check back then to see what happens. Until next time, ; take care, and how much time would it take for today's fractal ; to reach the Andromeda Galaxy? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Web_of_the_Gods { ; time=0:07:37.26--SF5 on a P200 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotMix4 function=ident passes=1 center-mag=+0.60018581308502960/-0.176748721957931\ 80/2.141276e+011/1/-130/0.0007 params=1/1.5/-1/\ -0.5/0/0 float=y maxiter=1000 inside=255 logmap=156 periodicity=10 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000000220430630841A52C53E64G65I76K87M88N99P\ AAQABRBBSBBUDAVEAXF9YG9_H9`I8aJ8cK8dM7fN7gO7hP6jQ6\ kR6mS5nT5oU5p_4re3tk2wp2zm3zk3wi3mg3cd3Ub3K`3IZ3IW\ 3IU3HS3HQ3HN3HL3HJ3HH3HE3HC3HA3H83DG6AO96WC3bFDzEN\ wDOuEPsEQqERoESmFThFUcFVZFWXGXVGYSGZQGdOHjMHpKHvHH\ wFIsDIoBIj9IcHLaPO_XRYcUWkXUs_TzbUwbVtbWqbXobYlbZi\ b_fb`dbaabbZbcWbdUbeRbfObgMbeN_dNYcNWbNUaNS`NQ_NOZ\ NMXOJWOHVOFUODTOBSO9RO7QO5TP6XQ7_R8cS9fSAdRCcQDbQF\ `PG_PHZOJXNKWNMVMNUMOTQNTUMTYLSaKSeJSiISmHLgREa_7W\ h0QqGLgWHYjDPkERlFSmGTnGUoHVpIWqJYrJZsK_tL`uMavMbu\ Q`tTZtXXs_WscUrfSqiQqmPppNptLowJozInyGnyFnxEmxDmwB\ mwAmv9lv8lu7lu5kt4kt3ks2ks1dm0Yg0Ra0LX0PW7TVEXUK_U\ RcTXgScjSiSUUAWEDZDG`CIcBLeAOg9QjATlFVnKVoPVoUVpZV\ pcVphVqmVqrVrvVrzVrzVszVszVtzVuzVvzUwzUxzTyzTzzSzz\ SzzRzzRzzQzzQzzPzzPzzPzzNzzLzzJzzHzzGzzEzzCzzAzz8z\ z7zz5zz3zz1zz0zzCzzNzzzzp } frm:MandelbrotMix4 {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(-a*b*g*h)^j, k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ;
