The number ; 1.5974 is the cube root of 4. This is the same number that was ; used for the 'Forever Flappable' fractal that appeared on ; January 9th, 2 days ago, but that fractal was calculated 34 ; levels down the log ladder. Both resulting parent fractals are ; obvious Mandeloids, though they are shaped entirely differently. ; ; Today's image is named "Discombobulation-2". I'm not sure if ; there ever was a "Discombobulation-1", but I kind of like big ; words with little meaning. The name must have been inspired by ; the typical fractured low-order chaos that surrounds the midget ; near the center. ; ; The scene of today's image is located in a large area of com- ; plexity on the southwestern shore line of its parent fractal. ; ; I was not going to rate today's image, but at the last minute I ; gave it a reprieve and rated it at a very average 5. The ; included parameter file renders in under 1-1/2 minutes, about ; the same time it takes to visit the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; and view the finished image there. If the image is not yet ; posted, be a little patient. It soon will be posted. It is not ; always possible to calculate and post fractal images the moment ; the discussion appears. ; ; Winter arrived in full force on Wednesday here at Fractal ; Central as a morning snow shower dropped 2 inches, 5cm, of snow ; in one hour. The fractal cats interrupted their play activities ; for a few minutes to watch the big flakes fall. The sun ; appeared in the afternoon, but the brisk winds and temperature ; of 30F -1C made it feel quite cold. By this time, the cats were ; more interested in their tuna and cheddar treats. ; ; In between fractals I kept busy working and clearing the side- ; walk. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take ; care, and great fractals are not always there when you want them ; to be. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Discombobulation-2 { ; time=0:01:21.29--SF5 on a P200 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC2 passes=1 center-mag=-0.83822789924444010/-0.411647447821357\ 10/9746.991/1/117.5/-5.08849906655228779e-012 params=1.5874/0/-35/0 float=y maxiter=1800 inside=0 logmap=32 periodicity=10 colors=000bD6ZBAVADR8HO7KUFM_NNeVOkaPzwHy_6rXAlVEf\ SI_QMUNQOLUIJXGOWFSWEXVCaUBfTAjT7WO4HJ23E2UM2tUmzS\ mzQJuPPuNVuL_uK`mY`fj`_wJgk1o_3qc4rg6sk7to8usSZeLa\ gEch7ej1gkAffJeaSeX`dSicNrcJs_HtWGuTFvPEwLDwICuNUt\ RjsVgrZerbbqf`pjZpnWorUouS0R05Y5Ad9FkDKrHPyLOtRNoW\ Mk`LfeLbjN`ZOZNQXBRV0NeFJoTGyfIvaKtYMqTOoPQlLSjGUg\ CWe8VbEU`JTZPTXUSVZRTdQRiQPnPaqZRlgHh`E`UBUN8NG5GF\ BKEHODNSCTWBZ_AccAbbAbbAbbAbaAbaAbaDebGgcJidMkdPne\ SpfVrgXtgWkXWcNWWCWO2TEugPTv_1wY5xW8xUCySFyVIwZJvc\ KthLsmMqrNpvNGzdJzfMzhPziSzkVzmYzn`zpbzq9z8CzCFzGH\ zKKzOMzSPzWRzZOzSLzMJzGPzOUzV_zbdziuzfvzYvzPvzGkzJ\ `zMQzPFzS4zUUziszyqzqpziozbnzVmzOlzGkz9bzCVzFNzITz\ EYzBXzGWzLVzPUzUTzZTzb`zShzIlzLpzOszQwzTzzVmzRazNP\ zJDzFHzELzDPzCTzBXzA`z9dz8hz7RzE9zL8zX8zgrzUszStzQ\ uzPvzNwzMxzKxzJszWnzgizsczoYzkTzgNzdIz`CzX7zUUzSUz\ QUzOUzNjz`gzYdzVazTbzLbzD } frm:MandelbrotBC2 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100, p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*floor(p/(2*PI)), r=real(p2)-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
