But it ; lies far enough away from the scene of yesterday's action to ; appear quite different. ; ; About 1/10th of the image consists of 'inside' stuff made ; visible by the 'zmag' inside fill. The rest of the image is ; made of good old equal-iteration bands. ; ; I named today's image "Another Visitation" because it is the ; second visit in as many days to the same scene. I rated it an ; 8 because I think it makes quite an interesting screen full. ; ; The render time of 12 minutes can be avoided by visiting the ; FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; and viewing the image there. ; ; I am involved in writing a discussion of how I find good ; parameters to enter into the MandAutoCritInZ formula. To my ; surprise, I find that I am not sure how I find some of the good ; parameters. But I almost always start by setting one of the ; exponents to an absolute value between 1 and 2. How I find the ; alternate critical point to enter as the (p4) parameter is ; another story, which I will explain in detail in the discussion. ; ; Finding good parameters for the MandelbrotBC2 formula, which I ; used in today's FOTD, is a far simpler task. Either I choose an ; exponent between +1 and +2, or an exponent very close to a ; positive integer, such as today's 1.99. A value of 2.01 would ; have created an equally interesting parent fractal, though the ; fractal would have rotated in the opposite direction as the ; logarithmic ladder was ascended. ; ; A chilly temperature of 43F 6C, heavy clouds, strong winds and ; occasional showers of mixed rain and snow made conditions less ; than ideal for those whose business took them outdoors here in ; Fractal Central country on Monday. A tuna treat that was late ; made the day less than ideal for the fractal cats also. ; ; With the work getting lighter and the fractals getting better, ; my day was pretty good however. And the best part is that ; tomorrow looks to be a repeat. Until then, take care, and ; beware of scam fractals. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Another_Visitation { ; time=0:12:12.59--SF5 on a P200 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC2 passes=t center-mag=-0.75491096038879870/-0.055120426362415\ 04/1.768255e+010/1/30/-0.009 params=1.99/0/10/0 float=y maxiter=2500 inside=zmag periodicity=10 colors=000PYpP`wM_yL_zJYzIYzHXzFXzEXzCVzBVz8Tz6Tz5\ Sz3Sz2Sz0Rz0Rz0Pz0Pz0Pz5XzFcpPjd_pTiwIsz6zz0zX8z0J\ z0Lz0My0Ou0Pp0Rl0Sg0Tc0Vd0Xf0Xg0Xi0Xj2Yj3Yl5Ym6Yn8\ _p9_pB_qC_sE_uF`vH`wI`wJ`xLazMazOazPazPaqYYffTVmPJ\ vL8zH0zE0zH0zJ0zL0zO0wR0uS0qV0nY0l_0ia0gd0df0ai0_l\ 0Xm0Tp0Rs0Ou0Lw0Iz0Hz0Cz09y06w03v20u30s60q80p90nB0\ n90j90g90d90a82_85X88T8BR6EO6HL6JI6MF6PC5S95V65Y35\ `03c03f03i03l03n05j06g06c08`08X09T2BP5BM8CIBCFBEBC\ F8BF3AH0AH0ACHF8`6EcBIeEOjISmLXpPasSfvXjz_nzcszfwz\ izzlzznzzqzzuzzvzzszzpyzmvzjsygpvdmsaip__mXPjTHjR6\ mO0000pz0gv0`s0Sp0Lm0Ci05f00cXzpSpmOglJYiFPgBHf66c\ 20a00d00c00a00`2w30m80dC0XH0OL0FP06T00Y`X0VR0RL0MF\ 6IBCC5J80P30V90P50T20Yvzm0Y`PIE0zn0SgIIzECzB8w83q5\ 0l20f_SmSJjLCgE3d60aszzipz`cwRRqIEl80fzO20zg0fd0Fa\ d0i_0gT0fP0dJ0dE0c90a30`0BH00R05y00q00l00fz09u0El0\ Hc0LV82TC9TFHSJOSMVRRaRTi } frm:MandelbrotBC2 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100, p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*floor(p/(2*PI)), r=real(p2)-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
