; Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2007 21:36:19 EDT ; From: JimMuth@aol.com ; Subject: [Fractint] FOTD 20-10-07 (Maximum Distortion [7.5]) ; Id: ; --------- ; FOTD -- October 20, 2007 (Rating 7.5) ; ; Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: ; ; Today's fractal is another rather slow one. It lies deep ; in the East Valley of the parent fractal that results when ; Z^(-1.01) is subtracted from Z^(1.01) and (1/C) is added. ; ; Without a doubt, this parent fractal is the most distorted ; Mandeloid I have yet come upon. At first glance, it doesn't ; even look like a Mandeloid. It looks more like an oversized ; squashed and folded circle with rough edges. But a second look ; reveals that those rough edges are actually bud radicals, and ; the fold is the barely recognizable East Valley. ; ; Despite its appearance, today's image was rendered in the fully ; traditional manner, with the inside a solid black and the ; outside colored according to the iteration count. The sinuous ; iteration bands are in the fractal, though I did emphasize them ; a bit with the coloring. ; ; To reward myself for the coloring, I rated the image a 7-1/2. ; The name "Maximum Distortion" refers to the parent fractal. The ; maxiter of 750,000 is larger than it need be, but with the ; logmap feature turned off, it makes little difference. ; ; The calculation time of 16-3/4 minutes is admittedly slow. To ; avoid delay, I suggest going to the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; and viewing the finished image there. ; ; With a temperature of 75F 24C, it remained unusually warm here ; at Fractal Central on Friday, though an all-day string of sudden ; showers kept the day from being too pleasant. The fractal cats ; showed their displeasure by viciously attacking their scratching ; posts. ; ; My day was average, which means nothing happened worth telling ; about. The next FOTD is due in 24 hours. Check then for near ; total fractal satisfaction. Until next time, take care, and ; after thousands of years, one would expect people to realize ; that ghosts are all in the mind. But then again, neuro-biolo- ; gists claim the mind is all in the brain, while at the same time ; philosophers claim that all we can know about the brain comes ; from images in the mind. Do I see circular reasoning at work? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Maximum_Distortion { ; time=0:16:43.82-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandAutoCritInZ function=recip center-mag=+1.159214347642294/+3.358879727718408/\ 2.97941e+009/1/-177.5/-0.00115705984022239361 params=1/1.01/-1/-1.01/0/0/0/0 float=y inside=0 maxiter=750000 periodicity=10 colors=000S5AW6GZ6Mb6Se7Yi7cl7iw0ro7ohEm`Lk7PdUSim\ XwpVmrTctRUvPKxNBvQFtTIsVLqYOp`RnbUleYkh`ijchmffpi\ erllrvhoselpbjmZgjWdgTbdP_aMXZJVWFSTCPQ9NODLUHJ_KI\ hOGnRFsTDwVCzVAwT9uQAsOFtMKuJPwHSzFPwCKrAAm80hUHco\ XYmYZlZ_j__i_`h``faaebadbbbcbadc`dcZcdXbeVafT`gR_h\ PXeOUbMS_LPXJMUIKRGHOFELDCIC9FA6C94AC6DF8FI9ILBKOC\ MREPUFRXHU_IWbKYeL`hNbpOetQguPltRnqSglTeiTcfT_eRYe\ OWeLUfKSgJQh3Oe4Mc4Ka5J_5MY6PV6ST7VR7YP8`N8cK3jL8e\ MDaNHYOLXOPXPTXPXXP`XQcXQgXQkXRoXRsXPz`RvXSsTUoQVl\ MWiJVjIVkIVlHVmHUmGUnGUoFUpFzzhzyczxczwczvczucztcz\ sczrczqczpczoczncymUxcKvXIvTJvWKvZLuaLq`NnZOkZPgYQ\ dXRaWTYWUVWVSWWOWXLVZIV_EV`BVa3Ud8VbDWcHXcMYcRYcVZ\ c__cd`ch`ce_cb_c_acXccVacS_cPYcMWcPUcYQcYQcYQcYRaY\ R_YSYYSWYTUYTVYUWYUX_UXaUWcUVeUVgUUiUUkRTmSUoTZqUc\ tVhxWmzXhvZcrcZmhUkmRir_gv9ezBczCZzEUzGPzIKzJImDJc\ DKUCLKCMICNGBOEBPBBQ9AR7A } frm:MandAutoCritInZ {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(((-a*b*g*h)^j)+(p4)), k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE=========================================
