In fact, it ; might set a new record for texture. The scene of the action ; lies in the Z^(1.44225)+C Mandeloid as it appears a single turn ; up the logarithmic hyperspiral when the function is eliminated ; by setting it to 'ident'. ; ; The value of the exponent--1.44225--happens to be the cube root ; of 3. I chose it because I dislike absolutely random exponents. ; The parent fractal consists of a single large bay with an almost ; equally large triangular bud on its north side. Today's scene ; with its jagged and poorly defined minibrot at the center is ; located near a larger minibrot that lies on a filament extending ; east from this triangular bud. ; ; The near-ridiculous amount of texture was achieved by rendering ; the scene with the outside set to 'imag'. A high-contrast color ; palette increased the effect. I have no idea how to rate an ; image that I went out of my way to sabotage, so I let it go with ; a question mark for a rating. ; ; The name "Take it or Leave it" implies that I do not expect ; everyone to approve of such a harsh image. But the image is not ; a total loss. A careful examination reveals a subtle pattern ; amid the chaos, which just might make a worthy, more convention- ; al image if I were to emphasize it by more appropriate coloring. ; ; The included parameter file takes 3-1/2 minutes to run on the ; fast machine and 12 minutes on the slow one, a reasonable time ; by any standards. But if reason fails, do not panic. Simply ; rush to the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; If the image is not already posted there for instant viewing, it ; soon will be. ; ; With 100-percent sunshine and light winds, the high temperature ; of 46F 8C here at Fractal Central on Sunday felt quite pleasant. ; The fractal cats agreed as they stretched on their shelf in the ; sunniest window. ; ; Except for a customer who for some reason called about his job ; at 11am, my day was totally without incident, the weird fractal ; notwithstanding that is. And speaking of fractals, the next one ; will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and the philos- ; ophy of materialism is quite rational, and it makes good common ; sense, but what if the world does not obey the rules of reason ; and common sense? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Take_it_or_LeaveIt { ; time=0:03:36.83-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC3 function=ident passes=1 center-mag=+0.46417761748/+1.46578697867/211500.7/\ 1/65/0 params=1.44225/0/1/0 float=y maxiter=2500 inside=0 outside=imag logmap=202 periodicity=10 colors=000GS3DQ59N8BKBCIDEFGFDNAKLKQTGXUB_U5_U7ZU9\ ZUAZUCZUDZUFYUGYUIYUKYULYUNYUOYTQYQRYOTZLV_KUZJTYJ\ SYJRXIQXIPWIOWINVHMUHLTHKRGJQGIOGFOHINGLMFOMFRLEUK\ DXKD_JCbIBeIBhHAkG9nG9qF8tE7vE7uF8uF8tG8tG9tG9sH9s\ HAsHArIArIBqJBqJBqJCXKCQKCWKCoNDfPDmSDfUD`QEeOEdUE\ eZEgfFfhFekFdmFcoF`pKZpPWpUUpYZlXbhXfdXj`XnYXkWViV\ UgTTeSRcRQaPP_ONYNMWLLUKJSJIQHHOGFMEE852KDDICBGAAE\ 99C87A66855043422211IhBGdAFa9DY8CV7BR69O58K56H45D3\ 4A2261130cDD5CC5CC5BB5BB4AA4AA499499c8838c3c737736\ 63662662K5255244144133133122122011011000000zvBzsA0\ zA0z90z90z8zh82e72a70Y62W62T51Q51O4FL4JI3MG3PD2PA2\ U8UZ51t0zzzzzuntpiojdie_c`V`XSb_VVSOTQMQOKNLILJGUG\ EFECcCAA98c76544c22ZjHcVBBF5cKIGGFcDCAA9c66333wdCU\ `AwX9UT8wQ7UM6cI5UE4cB3U72U31muUmvUmwUmxUmmUmmUmmU\ mmUzzUzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzUzzUzzUzzUzzUzzUzzUzz\ UzzUzzUzzUzzUzzUzzUzzUzzU } frm:MandelbrotBC3 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)+PI-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
