After that, I ; was specially selected to buy a 5-day cruise to the Bahamas for ; $99. Finally, I was contacted by the vice-president of a bank ; in Burkina Faso, who wants to transfer 18-million U.S. dollars ; into my bank account. After all this bad news, my attention ; turned to fractals and the day started to improve. ; ; These fractal ogives appear to be everywhere in the HyperMandel- ; brot set. I found the strangely scalloped one that appears in ; the background of today's image hiding in a nest of concentric ; circles in a bud in Seahorse Valley of the large minibrot on the ; negative X-axis of the Mandelbrot set. ; ; I named the image "Infernal Landscape". It does have a kind of ; hellish aura about it. Then I rated it at an 8-1/2, including, ; of course, the half-point bonus for my coloring, which makes the ; entire image. And actually, I feel it's one of the best colored ; FOTD images to date. ; ; The downside is the calculation time, which runs to over 1/2 ; hour on the fastest computers. I hate to think of the time ; required to calculate the image on an older machine. ; ; But like the bad news I got this morning, all bad news has a ; bright side, and today's bright side lies on the FOTD web site ; at: ; ; ; ; where the finished image is posted for quick and total satisfac- ; tion. ; ; Monday began with 1/2 inch, 1cm, of light snow here at Fractal ; Central, but the snow ended as fast as it began, and by midday, ; when the temperature reached 39F 4C, it had completely melted. ; The fractal cats observed all this with disinterest. ; ; For me, most of the day was routine, which left ample time to ; work on the fractal coloring and earn the extra half point. ; Tomorrow will likely be a repeat. Until then, take care, and ; how many fractals does it take to change a light bulb? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Infernal_Landscape { ; time=0:38:17.15-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=HyperMandelbrot2 passes=1 float=y center-mag=-1.76838718877224100/+0.002032313175440\ 55/5241100/1/-86/0 params=0/0/0/0/0.1/0/1e-012/0 maxiter=12000 inside=0 logmap=-1955 periodicity=0 colors=000CWhCWgCWgCWgCWgCWgCWfCWfCWfBWfBWfBXeBXeB\ XeBXeBXeBXdBXdBXdBXdAXdAXcAXcAXcAXcAXcAYbAYbAYbAYb\ AYb9Ya9Ya9Ya9Ya9Ya9Y`9Y`9Y`9Y`9Y`8Za9Y`AY`AX_BX_BW\ ZCWZDWYDVYEVXEUXFUWGTWGTVHTVHSUISUIRTJRTKQSKQSLQRL\ PRMPQNOQNOQONQONPPNQPMPQMPRLORLPSLOSLOTLNUKOUKNVLO\ VLNWKNWKMXLMYLLYLLZLKZNK_MJ`MJ`NIaMIaNHbMHcMGcLGdL\ FdLFeKEeKEfJDgJDgIChJChKBiLBjMAjNAkO9kP9lQ8lR8mS7n\ T7nU6oV6oW5pX5qX4qX4rX3rX3sX2sX2sX2sX2tX2tX2tW2tW2\ tV2tV2uU2uU2uT2uT2uS2vS2vR2vR2vQ2vQ2vP2wP2wO2wO2wN\ 2wN2xM2xM2xL2xM2xM2xM2vN3uO4tO5sP6rP7qQ8pR9oRAnSAm\ SBkTCjUDiUEhVFgVGfWHeXIdXKcYMbYOaZQ__SZ_UY`WX`YWa_\ VaaUbcTceScfRdgQdhOeiNfjMfkLglKgmJimIjmHjmGkmFknEm\ oCnpBnqAor9os8qt7ru6rv5sw4sx3ty2tz3tz3tz3tz3tz3vz3\ vz3vz4vz4yz4xz4xz4xz4xz4xz5xz5yz5yz5yz5yz5yz5yz6yz\ 6yz6zz6zz6zz6zz6zz7zz7zz7zz7zz7zz7zz7zz7zz9zzAzzCz\ zDzzFzzGzzIzzJzzLzzMzzMzz } frm:HyperMandelbrot2 {; periodicity must be turned off a=(p1),b=(p2): q=sqr(a)-sqr(b)+pixel, b=(p3+2)*a*b+p4, a=q, |a|+|b| <= 100 } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
