And what better way to celebrate the day than with a ; fractal. The fractal in question is a near-Julia set of the ; Seahorse Valley area of the (-Z)^1.44+C Mandeloid. ; ; The difference between a near-Julia set and a pure Julia set is ; immense. To see the difference, change the (p2) parameter to ; 0,0 and re-run the parameter file. Actually, a near-Julia set ; is simply an oblique slice through the four-dimensional Julibrot ; figure, very close to but not exactly in the Julia orientation. ; ; The unusually terraced effect of the image was created by ; rendering it with the outside set to 'tdis', which draws the ; bands according to how far the points travel before passing ; beyond the escape radius. ; ; I named today's image "Forever Fractal". Fractals are creations ; of mankind as much as the complex numbers that bring them into ; being. I rated it at an 8-1/2, including an extra 1/2 point for ; my coloring expertise. ; ; Finally, the calculation time of 2-1/2 minutes should cause no ; one to feel impatience. And as always, the finished image is ; available on the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; An unusually pleasant day graced Fractal Central on Friday, when ; lots of sun and a temperature of 61F 16C brought out the best in ; both man and cats. The lighter than expected work gave ample ; time to enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, rain moved in just ; after nightfall, and Saturday will not be nearly as pleasant. ; But whatever, the next FOTD will appear, probably on schedule in ; 24 hours. Until that enlightening moment, take care, and to ; where is our over-developed intellect and under-developed wisdom ; leading us? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Forever_Fractal { ; time=0:02:31.65-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=EvenMoreSlices center-mag=-0.289695/0/\ 1.253133 params=1.44/0/0.004/0.004/-0.7393818/\ 0.0302556/0/0 float=y maxiter=10000 inside=0 outside=tdis periodicity=10 colors=000HhzHczGZzGUvFPmEKcEFUD0K70BA0CD0DF0EI0FL\ 0GN0HQ0ET0BQ18T49V79XA9ZD9`F9bI9dL9gOAiRAkTAmWAoZA\ qaAsdAze7wf9ufAsfCqfDofFmfGkfIhgJfgLdgMbgO`gPZgRXg\ SUhUShVQhXOhYMh_Kh`IhbFicDieBif9ih7ii5ik1kn3il5gk7\ fj9diBbgCafE_eGZdIXbKVaLU`NS_PRZRPXTNWUMVWKUYIS_HR\ aFQaEPbCNcAMd9Le7Kc4Dc5Ge6Jg7Mi8Pk8Sm9VoAYqB_rCbsC\ etDhuEkvFnwGqzFwxGuwGsuGqtGorGnqGloHjnHhlHgkHeiHch\ HafI_eIZcIXbIV`ITeMLbKP_ISXGVUEYRC`OAcL8fJ7iK9hLBh\ MCgNEgNFfOHfPIeQKeRLdRNdSOcTQcURbVTbVUaWVaXV`YW`ZW\ _ZX__YZ`_Za`YbnYas`boZbkYbgXbdWb`VbYUbWTbTSbQRaOQ`\ LP_IOYEOYGNZHN`JNaKNbLNcNMcOMcPMcRMcSMdULdVLdWLdYL\ dZLd_LeaKebKedKeeKefKfhJfiJfjJflJfmJgoHfnJfmKflMek\ NejOeiQehRdgTdfUdeVcdXccYcbZca`b`ab_cbZdbYeaXgaWha\ Vi`Uk`Tl`Sn`Ro_Qp_Pr_Os`Lu_Nt_OtZPtZQtZRtYTtYUtYVt\ XWtXXtWZsW_sW`sVasVbsVdsUesUfsUgsThsTjrSkrOlzNmzNm\ zMmzMmzLmzKmzKmzJmzJmzImz } frm:EvenMoreSlices {; Jim Muth ; P1--exponent, P2--angle, ; P3--M center, P4--J center, z=pixel+(p4), c=p3+(pixel*p2): z=(-z)^(p1)+c, |z| < 16 } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
