This explains why I ; named the image "Alien Visitation". ; ; I have no idea why the parent fractal should have this symmetry ; at the unlikely height of 71 floors up the logarithmic ladder, ; and then only when no function is applied. But I suspect that, ; like the 'cosxx' function of Fractint, using no function with ; the MandelbrotBC3 formula creates a serendipitous mistake. I ; also suspect that the fractals that result with this formula ; appear in a circular repeating series rather than an infinite ; line of always-new images. ; ; Today's scene is located very near the X-axis at the eastern ; edge of the main bay of its parent. Due to the Y-axis symmetry, ; a similar scene exists at the western edge of the bay. ; ; Most of the action in today's image consists of the 'fmod' ; inside fill. The rating of a 7 is conservative enough to be ; honest and liberal enough to be interesting. ; ; The calculation time of 7 minutes is a bit on the slow side, ; but fast enough so that no one will have an attack of acute ; impatience. The finished image will be, or may already be, ; posted on the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; Tuesday started with a bang here at Fractal Central as a very ; strong thunder-storm moved in, with flooding rain, crashing ; thunder and roaring wind. The fractal cats weathered the storm ; under the bed; FL weathered the storm in the rear window, ; watching the flowers in her garden being flattened. I weathered ; the storm in the front window, enjoying the show. The rest of ; the day featured cloudy skies and a threat of more rain, which ; never developed, and a temperature of 75F 19C. ; ; With the big rush job just about wrapped up, things are return- ; ing to normal here at F.C. Though I had little time to write ; today's fractal discussion, the discussion for tomorrow's FOTD ; should be more elaborate. That next FOTD will be posted in 24 ; hours. Until then, take care, and I'm undecided whether to vote ; for a 'rock' star or a beauty queen. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Alien_Visitation { ; time=0:07:02.02-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC3 function=ident passes=1 center-mag=+1.112397863899667/+0.005607924256098/\ 6713.695/1/46.5/0 params=1.6666666666667/0/71/0 float=y maxiter=1000 inside=fmod periodicity=10 colors=000aM`bPZbSXcWVcZUdaSdeQehOekNXRXP7eQ8dQ8dQ\ 8dQ9dQ9dQ9dQAdQAdQAdQAdMBaIB_EBYBBW7BU3BS0BQ6HTCMV\ IRXOWZU`c_fhekmkqrqwvzzzqwvlqrgkmbfhYaeTYcOTbJOaEJ\ `9E_5AZN0SJ7TGETDLTARU7YU4dU1jUqJFpKEoKDnKCnKBmKBl\ KAkK9kK8jK7iK7hK6hK5gK4fK3fK3HhwIfuIdtIbsI`rIZqIXp\ IVnITmIRlIPkINjILiIJhHGbHDXHBRH8LH5FN3KP6NR8PRASRD\ UQGWPJYOM_NPaMScLVeLYgK`iJckIfmHioGlqFosFqtFruFrvF\ rxFszFsvFsrFsmFthFtcFtZFtUNpQVmO_kVahXaeZab_a_a`Xb\ `Ud`Re`Og`MhZNfXOeVPdUPcSQaQR`OS_NSZLTXJUWHVVGVUEW\ SCXRAYQ9YPFSrEUqDWpCYoB_nAam9clAGD9HE9HE9HE9HE9HF9\ HF9HF9IF9IF9IG9IG9IG9IG9IG9JH9JH9JH9JH9JH9JI9JI9KI\ 9KI9KI9KJ9KJ9KJ9KJ9LJ9LK9LK9LK9LK9LK9LL9ML9ML9ML9M\ LejGbj9_j2_c6_YA_RE_LI_EM_8Q_2TW6TS9TODTKGTHJTMOQR\ TOVYM_UTdQ_iMfnImrFtlJqfNn`QkVUhPXeJ`bEc`JYWNTRRNN\ WII_CDc79gD9kJ9nO9rU9v_9yd9x`MxYYwViwSu_TsDUqj8GXN\ NJaU5p_7lY8iWAeVKrzGhpCdp } frm:MandelbrotBC3 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)+PI-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
