I gave it this ; name because, when the parent fractal is rendered in the usual ; manner, there is no minibrot at all at this particular location ; on the X-axis. Nothing is there but the flat disks that fill ; the image. The minibrot doesn't appear until the scene is ; rendered with the inside set to 'atan'. Another reason for the ; name is that the minibrot is not quite all there. A sizable ; chunk has been taken out of the area on the negative X-axis ; beyond Scepter Valley. ; ; I spotted the elusive midget when I noticed a certain symmetry ; at this point in the parent fractal, which divides the M-set by ; (Z^(-0.1)+0.1). Actually, I'm not sure what the formula does. ; It makes little sense to me. But it creates some very interest- ; ing fractals, so who cares about exactly what is going on. The ; rating of an honorable 8 is not to be sneezed at. ; ; The ephemeral minibrot takes up almost the entire frame. The ; mass of bubbles fizzing around it almost reminds me of a glass ; of ginger ale. And the calculation time of a mere 19 seconds ; has hardly been exceeded for brevity. The ultimate in conveni- ; ence is to view the finished image on the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; With a temperature of 61F 16C, Wednesday was too chilly and too ; cloudy to be anywhere close to perfect here at Fractal Central. ; The brief but heavy shower that passed over in mid-afternoon did ; not help things. The fractal cats weathered the rain by ignor- ; ing it. My day was acceptable. ; ; The next FOTD will be ready in 24 hours. Until then, take care, ; and let your fractal guide you to enlightenment. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= TheBrotThatWasNot { ; time=0:00:19.93-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=allinone.frm formulaname=DivideBrot5a passes=1 center-mag=-0.06\ 6769/0/8.541667 params=-0.1/0.1/-14/0 inside=atan maxiter=1600 float=y symmetry=xaxis periodicity=10 colors=0000EN0GR0KS0NSOQPSTRWWTZ_VacYdg_fkagmcfnee\ ngdmhcljbkkajlaij`gh`dg_ae_ZcZWbZT`ZQZZOYZLW_IU_FT\ _DR`APa7Ob4Mb2Ld4Me6Nf7Oh9PiAQjCRkDSmFTnGUoIUpJVrL\ WsMXtOYuPZsR_rS`mUahUbcUcZUdUUcPUaKU_FUYAYW5aU1dS1\ hQ1kO5jM9iPDiWGhbKhiOgpRgvShtSirTjpTknUklUljVmhVnf\ WodWobXp`XqZYrXYrWWpWUoWTnWRmWPlWOkWMjWKiWJhWHfWGe\ WEdWCcWBbW9aW7`W6_W4ZW3YW9_VE`VKaUPbUVdU_eTefTjgTj\ fRjfQjfPjfOjfMjeLjeKjeJjeHjeGjeFjdEjdDjdBjdAjd9jc8\ jc6jc5jc4jc3jc2ga3e_4cY5`W6ZU7XS8VQ9SOAQMBOKCMIDJG\ EHEFFCGDBGHEJKGLOINRKPVMRYOTaQWdSYhU_kWaoYcr_enZbj\ Y`fYYbXWZXTVWRRVONVMJUJFUHBTE8TC9RF9QH9OJ9NL9LN9KP\ 9JR9HT9GVAEXADZAB`AAbA9dA7fA6hA4jA3lA2nD5lF7jI9hKB\ gMEePGcRIbTK`WNZYPX_RWbTUdWSfYRi_PkaNmcMldPkeRkfTj\ gVjhXiiZhj`hkbgldgmgfnifokepmdqodrqcssctubuwbvyUhp\ LWhCJ_36S7BUAGVELWHPYLUZOZ_RcaVgbYlcaqedvfgwgiwhkw\ imwjowkqwlswmuwnwwoxwpywq } frm:DivideBrot5a { ; Jim Muth z=0, c=pixel, a=real(p1)-2, d=real(p2)+16 b=imag(p1)+0.00000000000000000001: z=sqr(z)/(z^(-a)+b)+c |z| < d } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
