I named it ; "Cradle of Infinity" because somewhere in the vicinity of the ; value of the real(p3) parameter, the Julia set expands to ; infinity before collapsing back on itself. With the limited ; mathematical precision available, I came as close as possible to ; the point of infinity, close enough for today's image to give a ; pretty good idea of what that ideal fractal must look like. ; ; The zig-zag boundaries are a result of rendering the fractal ; with the inside set to 'zmag'. I have no idea how the rather ; lurid color scheme came about. ; ; If I had put a little more effort into the coloring, the rating ; of a 7 might have been a bit higher. The calculation time of ; 3-1/2 minutes should bring little hardship. And even this may ; be eliminated by dashing out to the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; and viewing the finished image there. ; ; Monday featured partly cloudy skies and a temperature of 28F -2C ; here at Fractal Central. But the fractal cats did not waste ; time complaining about the weather, they spent the day celebrat- ; ing their glorious victory. ; ; An annoying mouse has been darting around the fractal kitchen ; the past few days. Monday morning the intrepid mouse darted out ; once too often. Both cats were on kitchen patrol when the mouse ; dashed across the room. Nicholas, the large but clumsy black ; british shorthair, pounced first but missed. All was not lost ; however, for he chased the mouse right toward small but agile ; Cassie, who pounced and easily caught the mouse. Not a cruel ; cat, Cassie dispatched the mouse quickly and offered it to FL. ; Both fractal cats were rewarded generously. I did not see the ; mighty victory, but FL, who was on the scene, gave complete ; details . . . once she settled down, that is. ; ; The rest of my day was notably average. The next in the ongoing ; series of gorgeous fractals will be posted in 24 hours. Until ; then, take care, and even a mouse deserves a break. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Cradle_of_Infinity { ; time=0:03:32.83-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basic.frm formulaname=DivideBrot6Julia center-mag=0/0/0.0002\ 046932 params=-4/8/0.1/0/-0.72008749000115/1.128295 float=y maxiter=1500 inside=zmag logmap=yes symmetry=origin periodicity=0 colors=000D57IE7ON7UW6Zd6dm6jw5cpJXiXPakQabR`US_KW\ aN`cQeeTjhXoj_tlbynezqitfct_etUftNhtHitAkpRgkWfg_e\ bdcYibUmaPr`KwZPscOtgNukUY`_BTaLScWReeQhpPVkYKqeKl\ `JfVJ`PIWJIQDHK7GE1cHCzLOuLPoKQiJRcISYITSHUMGVGFWF\ EUDDRBCP9BMLIKYPHjWEwcBn`9dY6VV4LS1mAGmAGmAHmAImAI\ fHG_OEUVCNaAGi7Hh8Hg9IgAIfBJfCJeDKeEKdFLdGLcHLbIMb\ JMaKNaLN`MO`NO_OP_PPZQPYRQYSQXTRXURWVSWWSVXTVYTUZV\ `eUXaTUZSQWRNSQKPPGMODIN9FM6CK28L39M39N49O49P59Q59\ R59S69T69T79U79V89W89X89Y9AZ9A_AA`AA`AFaBLaCRbDXbD\ acEgcFmdGstKiyfQpIelG`gEXcBS_9OV7JR5FM2AL6CKBEJFGI\ KIGPLTlBTZKTLTS6adNbqdcSCZRJWRPTQWPPVJQZPPaPPePOhP\ OkPNoOQdPTXPVPPYIP_APb2OlMUzZZtV`mQcfMf_HiTCl_MhTL\ jMKlFJn7IpwPoEMgDP_CTSBWKAZC9b4CRRDLZEFec9zcBzcDzk\ FzvItdSuYexWYXmmzmmzzrhmmzbDaaCfqmzjmzqmzCmzqmz8mz\ qmzCmzqmzGmzqmzKmzqmzOmzqmzeGhe8Zl0UpJSzVLzVLyWKwX\ KzeJzZIxTJmPHeLFYHDN00055 } frm:DivideBrot6Julia { ; Jim Muth z=pixel, c=(p3), a=real(p1), b=imag(p1)-2, d=real(p2)+0.00000000000000000001, f=imag(p2)+16: z=z^(a)/(z^(-b)+d)+c |z| < f } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
