We certainly have seen enough ; elephants so far this month. But today's image will be the last ; one to feature these over-familiar fractal elephants. ; ; The image shows a normal elephant morphing into a pair of alien ; pop-eyes. The normal elephant is at the lower left corner of ; the frame. Extending upward and to the right from the normal ; elephant lies a series of steps between a normal elephant and ; the tiny set of 'Greetings Earthlings' alien pop-eyes at the ; upper right edge. It can be seen that the spiral elephant trunk ; becomes one eye, while the deep basin on the elephant's rump ; becomes the other eye. The very minor mystery has been solved ; and we can move onward to more artistic things in the days to ; come. ; ; The name "Elephant Transition" refers to the transition from ; elephant to alien eyes. Of course, I could give no rating to an ; image that I find pretty boring myself. But all is not lost, ; for the parameter file runs in a blazing 50 seconds. ; ; Those who do not like blazes may access the finished image on ; the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; An absolutely perfect day passed unappreciated by the fractal ; cats here at Fractal Central on Thursday. The kodachrome ; (digitally intensified) blue skies and temperature of 81F 27C ; kept the humans happy, but the cats were more concerned with an ; unwanted stray tomcat that spent half the afternoon yelling ; somewhere nearby. When the stray wandered on, he left his ; aromatic calling card, and this further disturbed the fractal ; duo. ; ; My day was perfectly average, which means perfectly boring, and ; what's wrong with that. The work was finished on time and FL ; offered no (accidental?) philosophical bait to get me pondering. ; The next FOTD, from an East Valley but with a guarantee of no ; elephants, will be posted in 24 hours, or maybe not for 36 hours ; if a certain rush job comes in. Until whenever, take care, and ; they say we live on the surface of a multidimensional ocean. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= ElephantTransition { ; time=0:00:50.51-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basic.frm formulaname=SliceJulibrot4 center-mag=-0.127123/-0.601833/9.67109/1/99.4/0 params=89.9/0/89.9/90/0.252/0/0/0/2/0 float=y maxiter=4200 inside=0 logmap=54 periodicity=10 colors=000ZczZdzZex_fw`gvahubitcjsdkrelqfmrgoqgpqf\ orforeoremrdlrdkrcjrchsbhsbhsahsags`gs`gs`gsS_fKSV\ CKI4C66B97BC9AFAAIB9JD9LE8NG8PH7RI7TK6WL6ZN5aO5dP4\ fR4iS3lU2oV2rW2tU4rS5pR6nP7lN9kMAiKBgICeHEdFFbDG`C\ HZAJY8KX7LW5MV4NV5PY5RZ5T_5V`6Xa6Zb6`c6bd7de7ff7hg\ 7jh8li8nj8pk8rl8tmArkCpjEnhFlgHjeJidLgbMeaOc_QaZS_\ XTZWS_VS`UR`URaTRbSQbSQcRPdQPdQPePOfOOfOOgNNhMNhMM\ iLMjKQjKUkJZlIclIhiQmcXrZdvVkzQszMzzSnzaUze8zi9zmA\ zqBzlFzhJzdMz`QvXTrSXnO`jKcjGgjCjgEcdGYaIR_KL`NIaQ\ GaTEbWCbZAca8cc6ab9`bBZaDYaFWaHV`JT`Lc`Nc_Pc_RcZTc\ ZVcZYcYbcYhccmdcrhcvmczmczmczmczmczmczmczmczmYzmYz\ mZzh_zh_wh`uh`sh`rg`pf`oeamdalcajHahHagHbeHbdHbbHb\ aHb_HcYHcXYZ`TaYOdVJgTMeSOcRQbQS`PU_OWYNYXM_VLaTKc\ SJeQIgPHiNGkMFmKEoIDqHCsFBuEAwC9yB9wDAvEAuGBtHBsJC\ qKCpMDoNDnOEmQElRFjTFiUGhWGgXHfYHe_Ic`IbbJacJ`eK_f\ KZgKYdQYbWX_aXYgWVmWTszzz } frm:SliceJulibrot4 {; draws most slices of Julibrot pix=pixel, u=real(pix), v=imag(pix), a=pi*real(p1*0.0055555555555556), b=pi*imag(p1*0.0055555555555556), g=pi*real(p2*0.0055555555555556), d=pi*imag(p2*0.0055555555555556), ca=cos(a), cb=cos(b), sb=sin(b), cg=cos(g), sg=sin(g), cd=cos(d), sd=sin(d), p=u*cg*cd-v*(ca*sb*sg*cd+ca*cb*sd), q=u*cg*sd+v*(ca*cb*cd-ca*sb*sg*sd), r=u*sg+v*ca*sb*cg, s=v*sin(a), c=p+flip(q)+p3, z=r+flip(s)+p4: z=z^(p5)+c |z|<=9 } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
