A good part of the richness ; comes from the coloring, which I suspect is a bit too gaudy, and ; holds the rating to a less-than-overwhelming 6. The coloring ; was particularly difficult with this image. Regardless of what ; I tried, the colors turned out either too busy or too flat. ; ; The name "Edge of the Valley" refers to the fact that today's ; image is located on the edge of its parent valley. ; ; At first glance, those ubiquitous elephants are nowhere to be ; seen in today's image, though a closer, but slow, investigation ; will probably turn up some elephant parts and maybe an entire ; elephant or two. ; ; Perhaps the greatest problem with the image is its inconvenient- ; ly long calculation time of 37 minutes. Go ahead and run the ; included parameter file if you wish, no harm will be done. But ; by far the most convenient way to view the image is to surf out ; to the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; and view the finished product there. ; ; Saturday brought clouds, humidity, and eventually, sprinkles of ; rain to Fractal Central. The humidity made the temperature of ; 82F 28C feel more like 90F 32C. The fractal cats, being comfort- ; loving creatures, enjoyed themselves stretched out under the ; cool air vent in the computer room. ; ; Meanwhile, my day was average, with another average day expected ; on Sunday. The next FOTD, a near glorious scene in some remote ; East Valley, will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, ; and if it makes you feel good, believe it. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Edge_of_the_Valley { ; time=0:37:12.28-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basic.frm formulaname=MandAutoCritInZ function=recip passes=1 center-mag=+3.254239745259663/+0.9577720814431667/\ 3.7405e+009/1/-75/0 params=-4.5/-1.35/-1.1/-7.2/0/\ 0/0/0 float=y maxiter=64000 inside=0 periodicity=10 colors=4400CJ4BI4AH49C3694784885985A75B76C76D66E67\ F67G58H58I58J49K49L49M3AN3AO3BP2BQ2BR2CS1CT1BS0CT1\ CU1DU1DV1DV1EW2EX2FX2FY2FY2GZ3G_3H_3H`3H`3Ia4Ib4Jb\ 4Jc4Jc4Jc4Kb7Kb9LbBLbDLbFMbHMbJNbLNbNNbPObRObTPbVP\ bXQ_`PbZPdYPfWOhVOjUOlSNnRNpPNrOMtNMvLMxKMzJNxINwI\ NvINuINsHNrHNqHNpHNnGNmGNlGNkGNjGNhFNgFNfFNeFNcEUj\ DTjESjGQjHPjJOjKNjMMjOLjPJjRIjSHkUGlVFmX2nT8oWEjYK\ e`Q`bWVeaQggLjpCqnEnlGlkIjiKhgMefOcdPacR_aSX_UVZWT\ XYRX_NWaPWcQWeSVgTViVVgWVeYUdZUa`U_aTYeTXgTXiUWlTX\ rTXrTXpTXrSXmSYhSYcSYcRYcRYbRYbRZaRZ`QZ_QZZQZYQ_XP\ _WP_VPYUPWUPUUQSURQUSOUTMTUKSVIRWGQZEQbEReDRfDRgDR\ hDRiFQjHPkJOlLOmNNnPMoRLpTLqVKrXJsZIt`IubHvdGxgHwf\ GweFweFwdEvdDvcDvcCvbBubBuaAuaAu`9u_8t_8tZ7tZ6tY6s\ Y5sX4sX4sW3qU1rV2rW2sW3sX3sY4tY4tZ5t_5u_6u`6u`6r_8\ pZAmYBkXDgXFcWG_VIWUKSULOTNKSPIRQGQSEPUCOVANU8MT6L\ S4KR2JQ0IP0HO0GN0FM0EL0DK } frm:MandAutoCritInZ {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(((-a*b*g*h)^j)+(p4)), k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
