; Today's scene lies far out on the main negative spike of an 
; oversized Mandelbrot set.  Yes, I realize that the minibrots on 
; the spike of the M-set are all quadratic, but though it looks 
; like a Mandelbrot set, the parent fractal of today's image is a 
; M-set only on the surface.  In its depths it is a combination of 
; quadratic and cubic elements, and with a magnitude of 10^10, 
; today's scene lies deep enough to have cubic tendencies.

; Most of the effect was achieved by rendering the image with the 
; outside set to 'tdis'.  The rating of a 6 means I consider the 
; image to be merely adequate.  The calculation time of 19 seconds 
; makes the trip to the FOTD web site hardly necessary, though the
