We found nothing of irresistible interest, ; though the day was still actually rather pleasant. But unfortu- ; nately, we returned too late for a proper FOTD, and as a result ; I posted no FOTD for November 15. Instead, I spent the evening ; watching the junk on cable TV. ; ; Remembering the laughs I had while watching the end-of-the-world ; shows on Saturday evening, I named today's image "The Future ; Evils". There does appear to be something vaguely sinister ; about the image, which exists in a parent fractal shaped much ; like an oversized flying wing, with a proper-sized Mandelbrot ; set at its origin. Actually, the pointed, branching elements ; around the minibrot remind me of the surreal backgrounds of the ; old 'Samurai Jack' cartoon series. ; ; The image was created by a mixture of Z(-1.5) and Z^2, and lies ; on one of the branches of the infinitely-divided main stem of ; the Mandelbrot set at the center of the parent. ; ; The rating of a 7 seems about right for today's FOTD image, ; standing flatly as it does in glorious two dimensions. After ; the 18-minute calculation time of the FOTD for November 14, ; today's time of 20 seconds will seem to exceed the speed of ; light, hopefully without the contradictory effects of relativity. ; ; Perhaps not quite the fastest but the most entertaining way to ; see the image is to forget the hassle of calculation and surf ; out to the FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; where the image is posted already calculated for immediate and ; totally overwhelming satisfaction. ; ; Heavy clouds hung tough on Saturday, but for the most part it ; stayed dry. With the lack of sun, the temperature of 61F 16C ; was a bit too chilly to keep the fractal cats contented. On ; Sunday there was a big improvement, with lots of sun and a ; temperature of 68F 20C, which pleased the cats greatly. ; ; The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take ; care, and are we in the universe or is the universe in us? Or ; is this just two different ways of saying the same thing? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= The_Future_Evils { ; time=0:00:20.19-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=AllNewDivideBrot function=recip float=y passes=1 center-mag=-20.105342042/+0.192308779/\ 1084/1/180 params=-1.5/500000 maxiter=1200 inside=0 logmap=37 periodicity=10 colors=0005A8JA6RAS_OWmQ_zTczVgzZzzbzYzzPzzGz`7z_8\ mZ9jYAfYAcXB`WCXWDUVDRVINUNKTSHSRJTQLUPNUPOVOQWNSW\ MUXMVXPRVRNUTJTVGSYCR_8Qa4Pc1Of6NiANlENoINrMMuQMxU\ MzYMhZZR_k9_x8Xu8Vr8So8Qm8Nj8Lg8Id8GbMMa_SamY`zc`v\ hbrldnpfjthfxjnEGoNOoWWpdbpmjpuqqpnrlksgitcfuZdvVa\ wR_vQcvPfvOjxNmzMpzckz_hzWezSbzO_zKXzGUzCRz8OzEWzK\ czQkzWszbjzhazoTzuLzlHzcEzVBzWFzXJzYNzZRz_Vz`Zzaaz\ bazc`zd_zZFz_Hz_Iz`JzFHzHIzIKzKLzMMzONzPPzzQzzRzzT\ zzUzzZzzVzzXzzYzzZzzZzz_zz_zz_zz_zz_zz_zz_zzczzbzz\ bzzbzzbzzbzzbzzazzazzazzazzazzazz`zz`Fz`Gz`Hz`Iz`J\ z_Kz_Lz_Mz_Nz_zzQpzTfzVXzYpzikzgfzeazdXzbSz`TzRSzS\ SzSSzSSzTSzTRzTRzURzURzURzVRzVQzVQzWQzWQzWQzXPzXPz\ XPzYPzYPzYPzZOzZOzZOz_Oz_Oz_AzhBzgCzgCzfDzfEzeEzeF\ zeGzd_zhZzgZzfYzdYzcXzbXzaUz7gzFuzNtzdeznSzwVzsYzo\ _zkbzgezcgz`QzTMzOJzJGzEJzHLzKOzMQzPTzRVzUZzUYzSXz\ QWzOVzMUzKSzIOzGKzEFzCAzA } frm:AllNewDivideBrot { ; Jim Muth z=(0,0), c=pixel, a=-(real(p1)-2), b=imag(p1)+0.00000000000000000001: z=b*(z^2*fn1(z^(a)+b))+c |z| < 1000000 } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
