Yet ; a rating of a 6 is still a little above average, so why not ; settle down and enjoy the scene. ; ; With today's image we return for only one day to the workhorse ; MandAutoCritInZ formula. To create the parent fractal I sub- ; tracted Z^1.8 from Z^1.2 and added C. This parent fractal is ; a fairly normal Mandelbrot set rotated 180 degrees, so that its ; main spike darts out to the east, while its East Valley is on ; the west side of the main bay. ; ; So far, so good. But the East (west) Valley of the parent does ; not terminate in a point, it terminates in a broad wedge, with ; today's image being located on the southern edge of this wedge. ; ; The name "Amber Thumbs" now makes little sense, though I think ; it originally referred to the amberish elements surrounding the ; central minibrot. ; ; The rating of a 6 is at least honest, if not exceptional. The ; calculation time of 7 minutes borders on slowness. To avoid the ; risk of excess boredom, the finished image will soon be posted ; on the FOTD web sites at: ; ; ; ; and ; ; ; ; I advise using the first address. The latter address will soon ; be dropped. ; ; The clouds moved in on Wednesday here at Fractal Central, but ; the temperature of 59F 15C kept things quite pleasant. The ; forecast is for a week of mild wet weather, so we'll see how ; things go from here on. The fractal cats, who never concern ; themselves with the future, were still dis-satisfied however. ; They missed the sun of the past few days. ; ; My day was fair and mild. I hope for a repeat tomorrow. The ; next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, ; and what is most real -- myself, Bugs Bunny or the Mandelbrot ; set? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Amber_Thumbs { ; time=0:07:02.60-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandAutoCritInZ function=ident center-mag=-0.0291149242608349/-0.0446315664270709\ /1e+010/1/77.5/0 params=1/1.2/-1/1.8/0/0/0/0 float=y maxiter=3600 inside=0 periodicity=10 colors=000_OoaNqcLteKv6gPAdTDbWH`ZKYbNWeRUhUSkXPo`\ NrcLuZGh_Hi_Hj`HknNFlQDkTCjWAhZ9ga7fd6ef5ee4ed4ec4\ ec4eb4ea4e_4bWC_SKYPJYNIYOHYQGXSIWUHVXHW_HWbHXeIYe\ JZcJZ`K_ZK`XL`VLdQchLvcItZFsWHlTJfRL_ONULPOJRHGTBE\ U5EY5E`5Ec5Eg5Ej5Em5MSIT6UPESLMRIUQLVRNWRPXSRYSUZT\ W_TY`U_aUaeNchGek9ciGbhM`fS_eYYdcXbiVaoU`uRZpPXkMW\ fKUaITYOZWTcVZhTcmSefUg_ViTWkMXlFYzm_dT``_bXfcTmeP\ tfLzgNkZOYQPKHQ69_7Xh8sZ6lP5eF4Z63S9CNCKJFSEH_AMdB\ RiBVmC_rCcvC_qFWlISgLOcOzzzzvUzmWziPz_IzQBuK4mG7fD\ A_ADT6GK3JD0L6HSPXYV_bSYeQcaOiZMoWLtTrmteovUpwIrx6\ sycvHbrLbnObjRbfUZeYVdaRceNbhJalF`pB_t7ZwH`uRbs`dq\ jfojgnihliikhjihkhglfgmegndflefkffigfhhfgieMwfejfd\ kfbkfalf`mfZnfYofWpfVqfUrfSrfRsfPtfOufNvfLwfKxe4Zf\ 5`f6af7cf8df9ff9gfAifBjfCkfDmfEnfEpfFqfGsfHtfIvfJw\ PYySWxUUxWSxYQx`OxbMxdKx6lB8jEAiGCgJEfLFdNHcQJbSL`\ VM_XOYZQXaSVcTUeVThXRjZQm } frm:MandAutoCritInZ {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(((-a*b*g*h)^j)+(p4)), k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint
