The effect of ; this corruption is to create a main stem that on the surface ; appears to be infinitely deep but comes to a dead end. As a ; result, the minibrots on the stem suffer increasing amounts of ; cut-off distortion as they grow smaller, until a level is ; reached where minibrots no longer exist. ; ; Today's scene lies in the minibrot around -1.67, which has a ; huge chunky valley where the west part of its main bay and large ; period-2 bud should lie. The scene of the image lies in a nest ; of filaments in this valley. ; ; The object that fills the image is what I call a dry valley, a ; pattern with apparent two-way symmetry that appears to have a ; minibrot at its center but dies out before the minibrot is ; reached. Take my word, there is no unresolved minibrot at the ; center of today's image. ; ; One thing I do see however is eight stands of fractal trees ; trying to grow around the edge of the valley. Just enough ; resolution remains to fill the screen with one of them. ; ; The rating of an 8 is based mostly on the brilliant colors in ; the central part of the image. The much smoother bluish outer ; part was created by myself. ; ; The name "Very-Dry Valley" refers to the richness of detail in ; what could have been a fractal failure. ; ; The calculation time of 3 minutes is a fair price for such a ; colorful fractal. ; ; The finished image is posted on sale in all its glory on the ; FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; The high-definition version, which simply oozes glory, is posted ; at: ; ; ; ; All the past FOTD's since April 1997 are online at: ; ; ; ; where they bring more than enough fractal enjoyment for one ; lifetime. ; ; Today brought heavy clouds with increasing wind and rain to ; Fractal Central. The fractal cats checked the temperature of ; 46F +8C, took a few glances out the back window, decided that ; the unwanted cats were at a safe distance, and found comfortable ; places to curl up and sleep. The humans just took it easy. ; ; The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take ; care, and what will we do if it turns out that the world is a ; dream after all? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Very-Dry_Valley { ; time=0:03:00.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=JulibrotMulti2 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=-1.674475219419467/+0.00000091823482684\ /2.510105e+012/1/70/0 params=1.9/5000/0/0/0/0/0/\ 0/0/0 float=y maxiter=1250 inside=255 logmap=326 periodicity=6 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000TfjTfiSfhSegRefRdeQddQccPcbPbaOb`Oa_NaZN\ `YM`XM_WLZVKYUJXTIWSHVRGUQFTPESODRNCPMBNLALJ9KI8IG\ 8GF7FD6DC5BA4A9487366254133011UO9OJ7IE5C93641YbMSW\ IMQEHJBBD75637_D6XC5UB5RA4O94M83J73G62D52B41831520\ 218Hz7Fz6Dm5Bc4AU48O36J25E139014Xe`T`XQXTNTPJPMGLI\ DGE9CB687343SmBPiANe9La8JY7HU6FQ5CN5AJ48F36B247123\ 0zlovhkrehnbej_bfXZbUWZRTVOQRLMNIJJFGFCDB997663334\ md3i`3eY3aV2YS2UP2QM1NI1JF1FC0B9076033tzbroJqh3lc2\ gX2bT2YQ1TM1OI1JE1EB0970430oR`hNWbKRWGNQDIJADD6963\ 4z97s65m43c21Ua_KYW`VTXRQTOMPKJKHGGDDCA9866433BK4A\ I39G38F37D26C25A2591471361240130010``VYYSVVQSSNPPL\ MMJJJGHHEEEBBB98875542221Mm0Ki0Jf0Hc0G_0EX0DU0BQ0A\ N08K07G05D04A0260132f11c01`01Y01V01S01P01M00K00H00\ E00B0080050020MYlITeFOZCJS9EL69E347hte_hXRYPIMG9B8\ c`aZWXVSTQOPMKLHGGYbHWZGVVEURDSNCRJAQF9PB8RD7SF7UH\ 7VJ7XK6YM6_O6`Q6bR5cT5eV5 } frm:JulibrotMulti2 {; draws all slices of Julibrot pix=pixel, u=real(pix), v=imag(pix), a=pi*real(p2*0.0055555555555556), b=pi*imag(p2*0.0055555555555556), g=pi*real(p3*0.0055555555555556), d=pi*imag(p3*0.0055555555555556), ca=cos(a), cb=cos(b), sb=sin(b), cg=cos(g), sg=sin(g), cd=cos(d), sd=sin(d), p=u*cg*cd-v*(ca*sb*sg*cd+ca*cb*sd), q=u*cg*sd+v*(ca*cb*cd-ca*sb*sg*sd), r=u*sg+v*ca*sb*cg, s=v*sin(a), aa=-(real(p1)-2), bb=imag(p1), c=p+flip(q)+p4, z=r+flip(s)+p5: z=(bb)*(z*z*fn1(z^(aa)+bb))+c |z|< 6 } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint ;
