; Date: Wed, 08 Aug 2012 17:59:12 -0400 ; From: Jim Muth ; Subject: [Fractint] FOTD 08-08-12 (Asteroid Impact [8]) CORRECT VERSION ; Id: <1.5.4.16.20120808180251.2be759c4@earthlink.net> ; --------- ; ; FOTD -- August 08, 2012 (Rating 8) ; ; Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: ; ; I have just realized that I have an old formula in the files ; with the name MandelbrotBC4. Please discard the formula I sent ; earlier with today's FOTD and use this version with the formula ; name changed to TrueMandelbrotBC. ; ; NEW FORMULA ALERT! -- I think this is the first time I have used ; the TrueMandelbrotBC formula for an FOTD image. The formula ; claims to be the most accurate way to create images using the ; many values of the complex logarithm function. Maybe it is; ; maybe not. Maybe there is no absolutely accurate way to find ; the alternate values. One thing for certain however is that, ; whether the new formula is mathematically accurate or not, it ; does draw interesting fractal images. ; ; In today's image the new formula calculates the Z^(1.195)+C ; Mandeloid 4.671 levels up the complex hyperladder to produce a ; Mandeloid that resembles a kidney bean with an immense, ; wandering filament extending from its northern edge. The ; minibrot in today's scene lies in a kink on this filament. ; ; With all the doomsday shows on TV, I thought that, with today's ; image, I might add my own little bit to the deluge of doom. ; Perhaps the most popular way the world might end is for an ; asteroid to strike the earth and send mankind the way of the ; dinosaurs. Today's image shows what might be a rogue asteroid ; tearing through the earth's atmosphere on its way to strike the ; surface and end life as we know it. I named the fiery red image ; "Asteroid Impact". ; ; The rating of an 8 might be a bit much for the image, which ; certainly is lurid enough if not an entirely new idea, but the ; incredibly brief calculation time of 20 seconds easily makes up ; for any short-coming. And of course, the finished image is ; always available on the web sites. ; ; The explosive finished image is posted at: ; ; ; ; And in high-definition at: ; ; ; ; All the FOTD back images are available at: ; ; ; ; Today turned a little warmer and more humid here at Fractal ; Central, but remained within the range of midsummer comfort. ; The brilliant sun and temperature of 88F 31C were just what the ; fractal cats ordered; the humans were too distracted by work and ; world events to enjoy the conditions. The next FOTD will be ; posted close to on schedule. Until whenever, take care, and why ; doesn't somebody pass a law making crime illegal? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Asteroid_Impact { ; time=0:00:20.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.par formulaname=TrueMandelbrotBC center-mag=-2.7295930\ 23664788/+9.289409131709448/74.45881/1/90/0 params=1.195/0/4.671/0 float=y maxiter=75000 inside=255 logmap=22 periodicity=6 colors=000900900B00C00E00G00K00M00O00U00U00X00_00Z\ 00b00e00b00f00h00g00i00j00j00k00k00l10l10m10m10o10\ o10p20p20q40q40r40r60s60s60t70u70v90v90w90xB0yB0zB\ 0zD0zD0zE1zE1zE1zG2zG2zG4zI4zK6zM6zO6zQ7zS7zU9zW9z\ YBz_Bza7zcBzcDzcEzcGzcHzcJzcMzcOzcPzcRzcSzcUzcXzcZ\ zc_zcazcbzcdzcezchzcjzckzcmzcnzcpzcrzctzcvzcwzcyzc\ zzczzczzczzczzczzczzczzczzezzgyzirzkkzmezm_zmYzmYz\ mXzmXzmVzmVzmRzmVzmYzmazmdzmgzmjzmmzmozmrzkmzmmznm\ zpmzqmzrmztmyvmzwmzymzymzymzymzymzymzzmzyzzyzzyzzy\ zzyzzzzzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyzzyz\ zyzzyzzyzzyzzzzzyzzvzzrzzpzzkzzhzzezzbzzYzzVzzSzzP\ zzLzzHzzEzzBzz6zz2zz0zz0zz0zz2zz4zz4zz4zz4zz6zz6zz\ 6wz6tz7qz7pz7mz7kz7kz9kz9kz9kz9nzBqzBtzBwzBzzDzzDz\ zDzzDzzBzzDzzDzzDzzEzzEzzEzzEzzEzzEzzGzzGzzGzzGzzH\ zzHzzHzzHzzHzzJzzJzzJzzJzzJzzLzzLzzLzzLzzMzzMzzMzz\ MzzMzzOzzOzzOzzOzzOzzSszz } frm:TrueMandelbrotBC { ; Most accurate multi-valued complex logs e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100, p=real(p2)+PI, q=2*PI*trunc(p/(2*PI)), r=real(p2)-q, Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
