; Today's image is a trip into the world of close-to-linear 
; fractals.  The exponent of Z is 1.009, which is not quite linear 
; but close enough to give a good idea of how things might go as 
; the exponent approaches ever closer to unity but never quite 
; reaches it.

; I gave the image the unlikely name "Floating Continents".  The 
; inspiration most likely was a painting by Magritte, which 
; depicts large chunks of landscape floating in a vast empty space.

; The parent fractal is another of those very low order torpedoes, 
; with today's scene located in a bit of debris at the edge of the 
; nearly featureless main bay.  There might possibly be minibrots 
; hidden somewhere in this debris, but so far I have found none.

; The rating of a 7 is only average; the calculation time is an 
; annoyingly slow 13 minutes, but this annoyance can be avoided by 
; checking the finished image on one of the FOTD web sites.

; a rather chilly 50F 10C.  The fractal cat wanted more sun but 
; satisfied himself with more food instead.  The humans wanted 
; less rain.

; The next FOTD will be posted in a number of hours.  The question 
; is the exact value of that number.  Until whenever, take care, 
; and why have those 'end of the world' shows become so popular on 
; TV?  Could it be that people are disturbed by what they see 
; coming in the not-too-distant future?
