; I named today's image "Periodic Wandering".  To see why, try to 
; track down the periodicity of the features surrounding the 
; central mininbrot, which is beyond resolution but certainly of a 
; quartic nature.  In some areas the cubic series seems to 
; prevail, while in others it could be either the quadratic or 
; quartic.
; 
; Actually, the parent fractal, at least on the surface, is 
; nothing more impressive than an everyday Mandelbrot set (a 
; fractal that of itself is quite impressive).  But today's parent 
; M-set has contracted a Z^(4)+C virus that is working wonders in 
; its depths, and at its impressive (by double precision 
; standards at least) magnitude of over 10^13, today's image is 
; certainly deep enough to feel the infection.

; The scene is located near a much larger quartic minibrot deep in 
; the trunk of the period-22 elephant on the south shore line of 
; the East Valley of the parent.  The prominent banded effect was 
; achieved by rendering the scene with the outside set to 'tdis', 
; plus some of my own semi-skilled coloring.

; With a calculation time of only 9 minutes on an old 200mhz 
; pentium machine that should have given up many years ago, the 
; parameter file will certainly prove to give a reward well worth 
; the effort of runnung it.

; Life was pretty good here at Fractal Center today.  The most 
; excitement was in the afternoon when a tomcat fight erupted in 
; the fractal yard, causing the three fractal cats to dash to the 
; window to watch the action.  Luckily for one of the fighting 
; cats, the fight ended after they decided who could curse at the 
; other the loudest.

; For some reason, I decided to eat breakfast today at the local 
; big-chain fast food outlet.  The food was good enough, but while 
; sitting in my booth reading my morning paper, I started to feel 
; like an obsolete old fogy.  Looking at the row of booths across 
; the store, I noticed one person in every booth, each one of them 
; pecking at their smart phone.  'What am I doing reading a 
; newspaper?' I wondered.  I should be downloading the latest app. 
; But then I wondered what those gadget addicted people would do 
; if the internet were ever to go down.  How could they get in 
; touch with their friends who live two blocks away?
; 
; While pondering such unfathomable mysteries, I guess the time 
; has come to say so-long until the next FOTX appears.  Until
