The Kids Are Alright -- Complete!

If you've read Brian Cady's liner notes for the film "The Kids Are Alright", then you know that the commercial release of this film has been edited and some portions have been sped up.

I've sold all the copies that I made from my film transfer, and they are no longer available. If enough people are still interested, I may transfer another batch to VHS. However, I doubt that will happen as it took me quite a long time to sell this first batch and I had to practically beg people to buy them through newsgroups and mailing lists in order to sell them all.

Details

VHS videotape in NTSC format (USA/Canada) transferred directly from a digital master. The digital master was created from a 16mm print of the film in excellent condition with bright crisp color. The sound is mono and clear. The theatrical preview exhibits some color fading and it was restored as much as possible. Each tape comes labelled in a cardboard sleeve.

This is not a money-making endeavour for me, only an attempt to share the uncut film with other fans. The price has been set only to recover the transfer costs.

Just wanted to let you know I received the tape last week, and it's absolutely incredible -- great picture quality, much better sound than I expected...and nothing's missing! I finally have something I can watch -- my old MTV-taped copy from 1987 was really showing its age (it was at the correct speed and had all the missing segments).

Bill says:

Yep, got it today, watched it today, will watch it many more times! Excellent job!

Jeff says:

At the risk of getting too personal, I want to give Rich in Utah a big virtual handshake. I watched the first half of the REAL "Kids" last night and it is great to see it without that jittery feeling that comes from watching the offical video release. No complaints at all.

I got my copy today of the unedited version from the film transfer. Very nice. It was cool to see the trailer with Ringo which I've never seen. Watching this all I could think was why the hell did they edit A Quick One on the official release? Pete introducing it and clips from the studio was way fucking cooler than some the stuff that made the final cut. Much cooler than watching Ringo and Keith drink. The overall quality is very good video wise. The audio while still good distorted if I turned it up real loud. Still a great video. Isn't The Who supposed to be listened to loud?
After watching this for a couple of days I can't get enough. It is fucking great. My store bought copy will be in the wife's next rummage sale. Why the hell can't The Who release this version on DVD?
