Request to Add Your List

If you are the List Owner of a mailing list, and you would like to see your list added to this site's Mailing List WWW Gateway database, fill in the below request form. Not all sites can accept all requests, and you may be asked for additional information. If you wish, the Perl code for this script is freely available, and could be installed on your own WWW server. See About the Mailing List WWW Gateway.

This form is long, but the LWGate database requires much information. To make this form easier to fill out, the form and descriptive instructions are intermixed.

1. - First enter your name and Internet email address. If your mailing list has more than one list owner, specify each additional name and address after your information, separated by commas. There must be a one-to-one correspondance between names and addresses, and your information should be first. If your name or email address contains a comma, omit it here and use the comment box below to indicate the proper syntax.

Your Name:

Your Email Address:

2. - Now, type in the name of your mailing list, and the mailing list title (up to 45 characters).

Your Mailing List:

Your Mailing List Title:

3. - Here you must indicate what mailing list software runs your list. The LWGate supports LISTSERV(TM), ListProcessor, Majordomo, and SmartList. If your list is a ListProcessor list and has a private archive, please select ListProcessor and the "private" box.

LISTSERV(TM) ListProcessor ( private) Majordomo SmartList

4. -The next two addresses are for informational purposes only: They indicate to users browsing the LWGate where to mail posts and manually send mailing list commands.

5. - Here, you can type in a short description of your mailing list and any additional information you would like people browsing the LWGate to see.

Short Description of Your List (About 50 words)

6. - Now, type in the "primary" address to which mailing list commands should be sent by the LWGate. That is, unless we specify exceptions (defined below), all commands will be sent to this address. If you wish the LWGate to send commands to multiple address (e.g. both to the mailing list server and you, to keep you aware of what's going on), list each address separated by commas.

Primary Address(es) for LWGate Commands:

7. - If you wish to have the LWGate send certain commands to another address, fill in the following information. For example, if you don't want unsubscribe commands to be processed automatically because of the potential for abuse, you can tell the LWGate to send all such requests to you instead of the primary address. To accomplish this, first fill in this secondary address to redirect certain commands to. (You can specify multiple address by separating them by commas.) Then, select the commands which you wish to have redirected to this address.

Secondary Address(es) for LWGate Commands:

Commands to Redirect to Secondary Address(es):
Subscribe to Mailing List
Unsubscribe from Mailing List
Set Subscription Options (LISTSERV(TM) and ListProcessor only)
Query Subscription Options (LISTSERV(TM) and ListProcessor only)
Confirm Subscription (LISTSERV(TM) only)
Get Mailing List Archive File Index
Get Archive File
Review Mailing List's Distribution List (all except SmartList)
Search Mailing List Archives (all except Majordomo)
Get Mailing List Information File (all except SmartList)

8. - Furthermore, you can tell the LWGate to restrict certain commands from being used or presented for your list. If you feel a command could too easily be abused or your list does not support it, restrict the command. Note that certain commands are available only to certain mailing list software programs. (e.g. confirm is available only for LISTSERV(TM).) If you are using a different type of software, these commands will not be presented for the user - you need not specify to restrict them here.

Commands to Restrict:
Subscribe to Mailing List
Unsubscribe from Mailing List
Set Subscription Options (LISTSERV(TM) and ListProcessor only)
Set Subscription to Digest Mode (LISTSERV(TM) and Listprocessor only)
Query Subscription Options (LISTSERV(TM) and ListProcessor only)
Confirm Subscription (LISTSERV(TM) only)
Get Mailing List Archive File Index
Get Archive File
Review Mailing List's Distribution List (all except SmartList)
Search Mailing List Archives (all except Majordomo)
Get Mailing List Information File (all except SmartList)

9. - These next two fields are only for mailing lists provided by the Jeff Salisbury server. If your mailing list is not run by Jeff Salisbury, do not fill in these fields. In the first field, fill in the absolute path from the root directory to the directory in which your archives reside. In the next field, fill in a Perl regular expression which describes the file names of all your archives (eg "^mailing-list\.log.+$"). Furthermore, all sub-directories from the archive directory on down will be presented if they match this regular expression. Assume that the regular expression will be delimited by the slash (/) character. If you have any questions about properly filling out these fields, please type them in the comment box below.

10. - If your mailing list is run by LISTSERV(TM) and you have set of list TOPICS (using the TOPICS= list header keyword), list the topic names in the below field, separating each by a comma.

11. - If any of this has been confusing, and you are worried that you have filled in incorrect information, type any comments in the below field. Contact Jeff Salisbury for further assistance.
