Niten Ichi Ryu Kata

The following are movies demonstrating Niten Ichi Ryu Kata (methods of the two-heaven primary tradition). They come from a Niten Ichi Ryu page in Japan. Unfortunately, I do not know the names of the kendoka demonstrating these.

Ipponme Both practitioners start in Gedan. Uchidachi performs a Hidari-Waki to Men cut, Sidachi responds by simultaneously blocking overhead with the shoto and cuts Hidari-Do with the diato. Nihonme Both practitioners start in Gedan. Uchidachi performs a Men cut, Sidachi responds by sweeping the Men cut aside with Migi-Shinogi of the Shoto (catching it with the tsuba) and immediately follows with a Men cut from the Daito. Sanbonme Both practitioners start in Gedan. Uchidachi performs a Men cut. Sidachi rises to 'crossed swords' to block the men cut. Uchidachi pauses. Sidachi cuts arm in a horizontal outward cut of both swords. Uchidachi continues on to cut men, Sidarhi responds by stepping to the side, blocking down and out with the Shoto and finally cuts Men with the Diato. Yonhonme Both practitioners start in Gedan. Uchidachi performs a Men cut, Sidachi responds by simultaneously blocking overhead with the shoto and brings the Diato under the left arm. Gohonme Both practitioners start in Gedan. Uchidachi performs a Men cut, Sidachi blocks overhead with 'crossed swords'. In a wheel motion Sidachi displaces Uchidachi's sword to the right continues to wheel around and cuts simultaneously the Men with the Diato and the Kote with the Shoto. Ropponme Both practitioners start in Gedan. Uchidachi performs a Men cut, Sidachi block overhead with 'crossed swords'. Then Sidachi pushes Uchidachi backwards with pressure from the Shoto. Finally, Sidachi supresses with the Shoto to Men and the Diato poised for Tsuki to Do.
