SPACE-TIME AND GOD
Brent Anderson
The universe, as viewed from Earth, appears infinite in every respect. The human observer, when considering the number of stars in a galaxy and the number of galaxies in the universe, must inevitably admit that it is beyond his or her meager mental abilities to comprehend in any but an abstract way. The shape of the space-time continuum that is our universe has been postulated by many, but in truth, without observing from the outside of the universe, it is impossible to define with any certainty. If we had the capacity to travel universe spanning distances, we would still not be able to reach a boundary of universe and not universe simply because we are prisoners of our space-time. If we were to begin such a journey at the very edge of space and time which defines our universe and travel in any direction randomly chosen from the three dimensional choices available we would return to our starting spot after a very long journey. The universe is, in fact, a finite place that is in the process of expanding much like a balloon that is being inflated. Each of us is also inflating at the same rate as the universe, there is no way for us to directly comprehend (measure) that inflation simply because anything we would use as a measuring device is also inflating with us. If we could approach the boundary of the universe and had some way of sensing it (which is impossible), we would observe that it behaves much like the proverbial end of a rainbow. We could never approach closer than a distance determined by the mass-velocity of our vehicle, and further, we would observe that even if our direction of travel was directly towards the boundary we would never close that distance because we must follow the curvature of space-time. In the realm of relativistic physics, a straight line must conform to the complex curvature of space-time, and thus it becomes in truth a multi-curved line (even though to us it would appear in every respect to be straight). This inevitably forces us to conclude that the boundary (Universe versus Non-universe) is infinitely elastic for want of better words. Further, we would not be able to sense with our sight or any other of our senses that the character of the universe was any different in any of the directions we might choose to travel or look, because light must also conform to the curvature of space-time.
Space and time are strictly a function of mass (matter), or if you will, any particle, which travels at speeds slower than the speed of light. If there were no particles in our universe that had the characteristics of matter, then there would be no space-time. While this might seem strange, under such circumstance there is no time or space, as we know it. Obviously, as creatures composed of matter trapped in a space-time continuum, it is very hard, if not impossible, to understand such a condition on any level, abstract or not.
Since we are limited to this universe, it would seem that the only truths that we might discover are limited as well, but this is not necessarily so. Our perspective as beings made of matter (mass) is totally subject to the physics of matter, and beyond this we have no knowledge except that which is given to us by our Father who is God. Our Father's body (which is composed of matter from his universe not ours) is not composed of that material which we know as matter. His is a universe in which there are more than four dimensions, and he is not restrained by the laws of this universe, except when he must cause actual movement of our matter. This is clearly evident when we consider that he is able to converse with us spiritually (telepathically) even though our Earth is speeding through space-time at very high speed. Many of us do not accept the existence of the Father, however, and these scientists and individuals often deride such belief as naive and insecure. In truth, these individuals limit their horizons with self-generated clouds, which are born of their blind skepticism. As scientists and inquisitive members of the human race we all should be unbiased observers and consider all data no matter what the source. To declare spiritual data, as false because it originates from a source that we cannot measure with our material artifacts is reckless. How can any man or woman pass judgment if they have not followed step by step the experiments of others that have received spiritual information? This is after all the scientific method. That it is difficult to prepare for such an endeavor is obvious, for it does require that the experimenter be humble, sincere and persevering in seeking communication with our Father. The one thing that can be guaranteed to any who seek the Father is that once they have established such communication, the resulting spiritual information (data) is much more real than anything on this Earth. If you ask any of those who have had such communication or those who have had "near death experiences", they will witness to all that their experience with our Father's realm is far more meaningful than any and all of their other life experiences. Those who have died and returned will usually express frustration with their limited intelligence when trying to convey even a small portion of what they learned in their short return to our true home. Our spiritual intelligence is vastly greater than that which we enjoy here on the Earth.
In conclusion, paraphrasing some of the words of our Brother, Jesus Christ, a man could own the entire universe and all that is in it, and if he does not love his fellow man and his spiritual Father he has absolutely nothing. In the end the material of this universe, including space and time itself will be consumed by Black holes and will be no more (the ultimate moth and rust). We however, the spiritual children of the Father, will continue forever regardless of our relative material or spiritual success or non-success in this life. Is it not then worthwhile to learn what the Father would have us learn now, in order to please Him and ourselves with our progress? How long will those who do poorly mourn their failure in eternity?
