Nous avons connu une ville autrefois dédiée à son culte, si vielle qu'elle avait perdu le souvenir de cette consécration. Or il lui fallut affronter une menace plus immédiate : un spectre de jadis qui cherchait à revenir chez les vivants depuis une éminence surplombant la ville. C'est pourquoi la Compagnie noire a fait route loin vers le Nord, au-delà des frontières de l'Empire de la Dame.

Mais l'histoire ne débute pas ainsi. Nous étions loin, alors. Seuls deux anciens amis et une poignée d'hommes que nous allions rencontrer par la suite faisaient face au péril.

Moga w tym wydatnie pomoc pod jednym warunkiem - musza odnalezc Biala Roze, dziecko, ktore moze ocalic swiat.

Lejos de princesas elfas, príncipes prometidos, grandes palacios y mundos de ensueño, Glen Cook ha preferido un acercamiento más terrenal: un grupo de mercenarios envueltos en toda suerte de fregados, batallas, apuros y lances fantásticos para ganarse su honesto jornal teniendo como única herramienta el acero. Ellos serán nuestros ojos.

Tolkien y Howard han acuñado dos maneras incuestionables, e imitadas hasta el infinito, de escribir fantasía. Junto a ellos, únicamente dos nombres más han sobresalido por la personalidad de su producción en el mismo campo: Fritz Leiber y Glen Cook.

Hasta ahora, las novelas de Cook se habían editado con notable éxito en catorce países, lo que hace más inexplicable todavía su ausencia del mercado de lengua castellana.
