Doctor Who Fiction

It is possible to know things, yet not understand how they relate to one another. When a detective is examining the clues for a case, he may know about certain fibers and may see that the door hinge was damaged in an unusual way, but until the detective realizes how these pieces relate to each other, that detective is unlikely to solve the case before them.

Last week I had one of those moments of understanding, a moment where the pieces came together and showed a picture.

I've known that I've not worked on any of the proposed Season 32 stories for at least a year or two now, ever since 'Relative Power' was completed. I've known that I've picked up the incomplete 'Psychotic Reaction' and typed a bit of it up, but not written any more of it. I've known that I considered reducing the proposed six or seven volume project down to three because of the lack of progress on my part. I've known that new ideas and characters, concepts of my own, have been the focus of my writing attention for the past few years. However, it wasn't until last week that I understood the truth about the situation: I was likely never going to work on the Season 32 projects again. Rather than drag the thing out any further or let this page get even dustier, I decided it was time to make it official.

The Season 32 (and the thoughts of any Season projects after that) project has been cancelled.

Please, friendly reader, do not interpret this to mean that I have lost interest in 'Doctor Who' as I have not. With the DVDs and the filming of the new series around me, my interest in 'Doctor Who' is likely as strong now as it was when I started the Season 31 project in.. (has to check his own web page to remember when he started all this) 1994!?! Ten years and I only finished one Season and part of a spin-off series? Well, I suppose that should have been another clue, ne? Anyway, I'm still incredibly fond of 'Doctor Who'; I just don't have the interest in writing my own Who at the moment. My time writing is better spent elsewhere.

To be fair, when I started this with 'Restoration' I wasn't expecting to write another after 'Restoration'. It was originally meant as a one-off story. So I had a little too much fun with writing the one story and the one became a few more. Seen through those eyes, everything past 'Restoration' is a bonus. Does that reduce the sting at all? No, I didn't think so.

I'm still writing about time travelers, a fact that can be proved elsewhere on the site already (cheap plug). I'm sure I'll play in the 'Doctor Who' universe further in the future, a fact that will soon be proved elsewhere on the site (cheap attempt to generate excitement). I'm writing a mix of shorter stories and longer ones at the moment. I like the mix. There's more to come from me, it just likely won't be 'Doctor Who' (although I will be taking one of the Season 32 ideas to use elsewhere). I intend to leave this section of the site up as a 'museum' section, a look at what was and could have been.

Thanks for your patience. I hope you enjoy what is to come.

Yours in Time,
