RanmaWho is the title for a subseries of my normal Doctor Who fanfiction works. Part of that normal Doctor Who series is a story entitled 'Cursed Time', which mixed the elements of Doctor Who and Ranma 1/2. After finishing that story, I realized I could have more fun with this combination and left a way open to do a few more stories with them together. These extra stories are the RanmaWho series. If you enjoy taking the imaginary experience one step further, if my normal Doctor Who series was the official televised adventures of the Doctor, then the RanmaWho series is an animated companion released directly to video.
Shampoo, saddened that the events of 'Cursed Time' did not bring herself and Ranma closer together, is made happy by her grandmother's announcement that a love potion will be made for Shampoo to use on Ranma, to make him fall in love with her. Unfortunately, the potion gets in the wrong drink and the Doctor ingests it, with very strange results.
(Author's note: The title of this piece is obviously a reference to the song 'Love Potion #9', but is also meant to acknowledge the fact that this sort of plot device is nothing new to the Ranma series. A comment of Nabiki's in the next volume was meant to reinforce my acknowledgement of this. I'm just having fun with these.)
The love potion has reacted oddly with the Doctor's alien body chemistry, changing his whole personality. Cologne, Shampoo's grandmother, is concerned that the effects may be permanent and struggles to create an antidote. The quickest way to introduce the antidote into his system will be via the lips.....
(Author's note: The Doctor identifies himself as 'Steve' throughout most of this volume, a reference back to 'Restoration', when he had amnesia. The outfit he adopts while in his potion induced phase is that of the Eighth Doctor from the Trenchcoat fanfiction series. The editors are friends of mine and I thought it would be a good gag. Near the end of the volume, when the Doctor's insanity is at it's peak, I think it's obvious I was watching a lot of Marx Brothers films at the time.)
After another fight with Akane, Ranma is gassed and finds himself in a strange Village, relabeled as Number Six. Out of all the people he recognizes there, only Ryoga will admit to knowing him. The strange Number Two says Six must stay until he answers the question: Who do you love?
(Author's note: At first glance, adding the Prisoner to the already heady mix of Ranma and Doctor Who seems insane, but that's how most of my stories come about: in a burst of insanity. The villagers are either characters from Ranma 1/2 or Doctor Who, most from Doctor Who.)
There's a new number Two in the Village and he's eager to get some answers from number Six. He decides to attack where Six is likely to be weaker, in his dreams....
(Author's note: I know there was a number Twenty in 'Imprisoned' and it's obviously not the same number Twenty in this section. I did it on purpose, as the next segment will note.)
Did Number Six survive? Can he escape the Village? Can he and his partner win the sculpture contest? Will we ever discover who Number One is? Will anything get explained? More answers and questions in this final installment of the 'Prisoner' storyline.
Downfall' completes the Prisoner story. After that, I plan two more storylines from RanmaWho, which will be completed when time allows. The next storyline will likely be another short one, two to three volumes, and will likely be more lighthearted in nature, as the 'Love Potion' storyline was. As I see it now, it will involve the Doctor trying to help Ranma straighten out his love life, the Doctor being big on interfering (it's what he does best!) The last storyline is entitled 'Dark Future'. In it, time is being manipulated and it continues to change as the story progresses. We are flung ten years into the future, where the world has been destroyed by the evil Empress. A rag tag bunch of rebels are all that's left to stand against her, headquartered in the remains of a half destroyed dojo. However, there are powers behind the powers that be, and the correct villains must be toppled. The problem is, how do you fight an opponent when you don't know that they exist? I've already written five volumes of this story, and I'm working on the sixth. The story will be somewhere around eight to ten volumes long (I think). It's a monster in more than one sense of the word.
I've had requests for more crossover stories, to further fill in the Doctor and Julie's trips through the Nexus of Possibilities. While I've got ideas for some of those stories (such as the already suggested TenchiWho story), at this time, I've got other things on my writing table, other projects that demand my attention now. While I'll certainly ponder over any suggestions for further crossovers, I doubt I'll get to work on them anytime soon. Sorry folks, I'll get to them someday I hope.
