Plastic Additive for Plasters

(plasticizer concentrate)

Plaster Additive for Plasters
Unique plasticizing liquid used to give regular plasters and gypsum the qualities of plastic.

As you know, plaster by itself is fragile. If you drop it, it will break. Plastic by itself is expensive, especially for tooling. Our compound mixes right in with the plaster and becomes part of the chemical reaction of plaster. The compound is basically a very high end acrylic, so it gives the plaster all the qualities of acrylic but without the expense and complicated tooling that occurs with cast acrylic. Another unique feature of our compound is its ability to cross-link. Certain polymers, including ours, will become stronger with time as the molecular chain joins together forming one giant molecule. The cross-linking in our product takes about five days. The material is completely cured in about two weeks.

This product is too new to specify exactly how much strength it will add to plaster, but it certainly does increase the "bounce" or ability to not break when dropped. It also gives the plaster a unique, plastic-like feel. People who handle it are not sure if it is plaster or plastic.

You can use the liquid in place of water in your plaster mix. Or you can dilute it with water to get the balance you need between cost and strength. Simply mix it into the water to the desired ratio, then use this in place of water when you mix your plaster.
