UV Paint

Black Light Paints, also known as UV Reactive Paints. If
you are looking for paint that cures under UV light you have come to
wrong place. What do I mean by that? Well, now days, there are paints,
ink and resins that cure when exposed to UV light. Screen printing ink
is a good example. After you print the T-shirt you run the shirt
through a UV tunnel to harden the ink. No need to run the shirt through
a dryer. The ink dries in a matter of seconds instead of minutes. This
is called UV curing, and the paint you have found on this page is NOT
that kind of product.
-- instead --
We have several colors of a high-end acrylic UV paint. This paint reacts to UV lighting, or black light as it is often called. The
paint base is an outdoor rated 100% high-end acrylic. This is what they
call a new generation of acrylic paint. Not too long ago the only thing
acrylic paint was good for was painting indoor walls. You'll never
think to paint a floor or deck with it. Well the paint base we use for
our paints is from that new series of formulas. The pigments on the
otherhand are a another story. UV pigments have never been famous for
being cheap or having much of a life. Unfortunately we are stuck with
what we can get. These guys are very expensive and this is why the
paint is compared to regular acrylic paints such as house paint. Unless
the paint is made from Chinese pigments, all UV paints are made from
the same pigments. The only way to get higher quality paint is to add
more and more pigment which really drives the price up. Please don't
compare our paints with the cheap stuff you buy for kids. That stuff is
not 100% acrylic and has only small amounts of pigment to keep the
price down.
UV paints will flourese differently under different
lights, different lighting conditions and even different distances from
the light source. We do not carry light fixtures because they are so
easy to get anywhere in the world. You might as well get them locally
rather than risk UPS breaking them.
The best method of
application is to spray the paint. You can brush it or roll it, but
because the pigments are naturally sheer it is best to spray it. If you
get molting, just stop what you are doing and try spraying it. Layers
over layers will only increase your problem.
For some unknown reason, these paints work best if applied over a white primer.
You
can't dilute these paints by adding white. Don't think you will get a
light pink by adding regular white. The pigments in regular white paint
will mask the UV characteristics.
For the best success, get the
idea that you are painting with pigments out of your head. You are not
painting with pigments, you are painting with radation. Paint in the
dark with your light source for results you can see.

* True white is difficult to acheive with normal UV pigments, this is
