Breakaway Bottle Video

Now you can make your own breakaway bottles like the ones used in fight scenes in movies. Professionally made breakaway bottles can cost $40 or more, but with the right know-how and materials you can make your own at much less. This video shows how to make the basic two-part silicone mold needed to cast the bottle. It demonstrates the materials needed and pouring technique. The craft is a fine art and practice is required, but good to excellent bottles can be made for a fraction of the cost of Hollywood bottles.

Materials shown are Silicone, PVC (Hot Pour), Gelatin, Wax, and Slip Latex. Foam latex is compared, but not demonstrated. Shows you how to fill skins with polyurethane foam and how to foam-in a simple wire armature. Intrinsic coloring is shown for each material. Use of the Hair Punching tool is demonstrated. Does not demonstrate sculpting, life-casting, or the construction of silicone or plaster molds. Experience in mold making and life-casting are prerequisites to these techniques.
