at the
Roy Relay for Life

SPONSORS: The Gadabout Volkssport Club will sponsor a volkswalk in conjunction with the Roy Relay for Life. at the Roy High School track, (2150 West 4800 South). This is a cancer cure fund raising activity. The community unites to remember those who lost their battle and celebrate with survivors. It is a truly memorable evening. There is lots to do, see, and great food to enjoy! If you have questions, please call 782-8580 or (on event day cell 390-3322.)

START POINT: The club will have a camp site on the track. Please sign in and obtain a start card to collect lap credit (4 laps = 1 mile).

START TIME: Walk after the opening ceremony at 6:00 p.m, Friday night until 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. We will try to keep a team member on the track through the night. But you are not obligated to stay after you complete your track laps.

DIRECTIONS: From Salt Lake City take I-15 north and exit at Roy. Turn Right on 1900 West to 4400 South. Turn Left on 2100 West by the Sand Ridge Park You may park at either Sand Ridge Jr High or Roy High. Track is west of the high school. Directions from Ogden are same as above.

PROCEDURES: walk, jog, or run at your own pace. Each participant must carry a start card and have it validated at control points along the route. Turn in the card at the completion of the walk.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The 5 or 10K courses are easy and rated 1+. Strollers or wheelchairs are not recommended. The trail is paved road, but some stairs are on the course. Water and restrooms are available in the park, this is a big celebration.

STIPULATIONS: With registration for this event the participants accept the guidelines for AVA Volkssport events and agree to observe the principles of good sportsmanship. Littering is not permitted. The event is open to everyone. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. No Pets this time please. SORRY--NO REFUNDS IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO WALK. Please donate anyway!

DISCLAIMER: Every reasonable effort will be expended by the sponsors to make the event safe and fun for all. However, we cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen articles, accidents, or any injuries.

REGISTRATION: Those who pre-register and submit a donation check to the American Cancer Society, will receive the AVA credit stamp courtesy of the Gadabout Club. However you must pre-register by May 14th.--with $15 in pledges minimum you will receive a T-Shirt, state size please. Or, you may purchase a luminaria for $5 in memory of someone special. These are used in a special ceremony and will light the track throughout the night. Those who register on the event day will pay the required $3 minimum. You are encouraged to collect donation checks from your family and friends. Participants will receive the official T-shirt with $15 minimum pledge.

SPECIAL NOTE: This event is sanctioned by the AVA of the IVV. This is a new twist for us, but we encourage you to sign up and donate to this worthy cause. Please help us with the ceremony--Celebrate with those who have won their battles and remember loved ones no longer with us. Let's help find a cure!
MEMBERSHIP INFO: Gadabout club membership is $10 for individual or $15 for a family. The date on this address label is the date you last paid dues. There are several new seasonal events in Cedar City areas at Bryce Canyon, Snow Canyon, Zion National Parks, in addition to the Brigham City event.

We have sanctioned two more events for 2007, both in Huntsville on Aug 11 and on Sept 8. Send in your suggestions events for 2008. Stay fit by walking and see the local areas while you do. Visit the great Year Round Events sponsored by other clubs.
